So after sitting for a year.... the time has come to pull the engine and have it looked at... I was racing a mustang when she was running like a champ.. but when I went to give her gas again... started sputtering... lost power.. smoked a little.. shuddering under power.. had to ease into the gas and limped her on home.. But don't worry.. the mustang didn't beat her...
Here is where I need your advice.. I plan on pulling the motor and having a local mechanic pull the intake and heads off to see if there is any noticeable damage or possible easy fix like a blown gasket. If nothing jumps out at me I want to crate it up and send it to someone who has the knowledge to rebuid it. Nothing crazy wild.. just a good rebuild with maybe a little more power.
So who would you recommend I send the motor to... I live in the western part of NC. I would like to find someone close.. but will ship it to someone if they are right for the job..
The other option is if I can get a complete list of part #'s and specs as far as machine work and have a local builder who is unfamiliar with the sy's (but a good machinist) follow the list so that I can have it rebuilt locally
It's just a shame to let her sit here and not move...
