Re: Need help finding exhaust options!

Im assuming you mean cat-back type of setup... if so the only one in production right now I believe is RPM's (www.raceprovenmoters.com) there used to be ATR, Kenne Bell and Borla

RPM is using a round straight threw muffler from magnaflow. .Stainless steel. I just got a cat back from them for my SY, it was so polished it looked like intercooler plumbing. Very nice system. Priced right too!

Don't go flowmaster... they're not good with our trucks because they don't flow enough.
I'd go with the rpm setup..

Flowmaster made there name in chamberd mufflers because the flowed better than most other camberd mufflers out there and sounded great on a mustang. And we all know how many mustangs there are out there. On a Turbocharged engine a high flowing muffler is key to making power. Thats why you see dump pipes on alot of weekend racer rides. The muffler that RPM uses is from Magnaflow its better because its a straight threw design. NO CHAMBERS. Its also stainless steel so it will still be thare even after the truck rots around it.

Re: Need help finding exhaust options!

hmmmm,.. I have a Flowmaster, and i wouldn't cut down that brand. Me and my posse think it sounds terrific, especially with no cat, or a high flow. I really think you would like my setup. It really expells them gases too. Sounds just like a throaty V8...Instead of that stock 6 cylinder tractor sound. Many people have asked if im running an 8. Everyone has different ways of going about things,... I completely understand. Differnt strokes for different folks. Thats why there are so many different brands.

Re: Need help finding exhaust options!

i have had a flowmaster on a ty and imo sounds like ass and like frank said magnaflow is a much better muffler for those reasons. flowmaster is for young kids that think a exhaust system is going to make hp. it has been proven the best exhaust in the world is not getting better then 8-12hp without major mods to need the flow.

Karl, I understand what your saying and in your case of being (I think) a pretty stock truck, it won't make that much difference and I do admit that they sound good. Buuuut, the above posts are not only correct but a little light. I have actually seen chambered mufflers (not just Flowmasters) actually do damage to some of our high HP trucks and a few Gn's.

I think they were just warning you that if your looking for sound then ok, not max performance. If you put a back pressure guage in your exhaust and swapped from a Flow to ???, there is a big difference and this is dyno proven, not myth.

Re: Need help finding exhaust options!

anyone have a sound clip of rpms (magnaflow) exhaust? Id love to hear it. I have a flowmaster w no cat. Sounds good at idle imo. A little tired of the drone after 20 min or so of driving though

Re: Need help finding exhaust options!

By no means am i knockin Flowmaster. Im only saying from a Quality stand point Stainless Steel is better than Aluminized steel. And from a performance stand point a bullet or strait threw muffler is better on a turbocharged application. Im not speaking from my ass I ran a flowmaster muffler on my typhoon when it had a small turbo on it. I picked up 2 tenths by changing to a borla XR series. Hows that for hard evidence. I might even have a video of the flowmaster at the track when i was running 12.5s.

Found it; Click here to watch typhoon-1255

Re: Need help finding exhaust options!

I honestly settled with the dynomax ultra flow stainless round muffler myself.. and am 100% satisfied with it.. I've had them before but on a few of my supercharged mustangs and knew one would be a great fit to the sy

Re: Need help finding exhaust options!

Thanks guys for all the help! So if you could get eny kind you'd get the RPM. rather than borla or flowmaster or corsa.

Re: Need help finding exhaust options!

You need to try the Aero 3030XL. Straight thru round design and 100% stainless steel. Just get the muffle and have your local exhaust shop fab up the 3" pipe from the cat back to the muffler. Much less expensive than a full cat-back system and every bit as good. I am selling the Aero 3030XL for $145.00. Has a liftetime warranty.
