Drill the lock, call up McGuard & see if they're willing to send you a new set of wheel locks & a new key.. Chances are this will require you to send your old locks/key back... Since you don't know how to do it already i'd recommend taking it to a mechanic...

Well, I got them off. I spent over two hours dicking around with all sorts of tools. I finally said F it and actually drilled the center cap itself. I literally drilled a circle around the lock and pulled the cap off. Yes, all four caps are slaughtered. I don't feel to good about this but I'm sure I'll get over it once my ZR1's come in this wheel.

Thanks for all the wisdom none the less!

All you had to do was drill the lock not the cap

Next time just take it to a mechanic

For future reference, if anyone has this same problem, here are 2 ways to get a stripped lock bolt out:

- Take a dremel and cut a straight slit in the lock bolt with one of those mini cutting wheels. Then just use a flat head screwdriver to remove.

- Drill a small hole in the lock bolt itself and use a screw extractor ("easy-out") to remove.

Good idea! :D

This is something that comes up rather often. Needs to be added to the FAQ or vault.

Are you serious? I hope you're kidding. And people wonder why parts for our trucks are getting harder and harder to find. A perfectly good set of centercaps down the drain. I'm sorry but that blows my mind that you would do that. You do realize those center caps alone are worth probobly $200 right?

I knew I would get some shit for this although there was no getting these locks out. I tried the slit in the screw idea using the dremel, didn't work. Trust me, these were seized in there. The wheels had not been removed from the truck for over 8 years. Even after drilling around them, I was only able to get two out using vise grips. And no, they were not "perfectly good" either as the wheels and center caps are both thrashed badly......hence the new ZR1's.

Hence why when in doubt TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC.... :squint:

$40 in labor for a headache you can't handle is less stressful and cheaper than finding four new/used centercaps

Truck isn't registered yet, thus I can't take it to a mechanic. Regarding the use of the caps, I don't need them any longer and would not have been worth much in their condition.

I bet they were worth more than they are now. Even if they weren't mint, someone is going to need those some day. People are going to start restoring these trucks in a few years and taking POS trucks and making them mint. But when the few parts we have are destroyed, it's going to be very hard to do that.

Even if ya went gung-ho drilling the lock out, you could have gone back and rethreaded the rim for a new replacement lock, but what do I know.
