Need input on a motor rebuild please

So my beloved Ty needs a motor rebuild. Can someone provide input on a good rebuild? Your input would be greatly appreciated. I want to build a solid reliable motor capable of 11-12 sec runs with daily driving.

So far, I am going with:
trw pistons
moly rings
arp fastners
flex plate
high volume oil pump
high flow water pump
stock crankshaft turned
double roller timing chain
fed mogul "H" or cleavite rod bearings
Ported vortec head and intake setup with roller rockers from John Waller
Stock rods or L35's
Pioneer balancer
50 lb injectors
255 fuel pump
Need help with cam choice as California smog laws suck and i still want to pass the sniffer
I wish I could afford all the xtras like a 4-bolt main and such but I can't right now.

Any suggestions would help.
Thanks

Re: Need input on a motor rebuild please

You guys are great. I am sticking with a stock turbo for now since I will be hosed after the rebuild. Later on I will probably go with Waller's upgraded stock type turbo.

What do you guys think about the parts listed in my original post and am I missing anything?

Re: Need input on a motor rebuild please

You may want to check out cnc-motorsports.com I purchased a lot of engine parts for my IROC there. You have to "hunt" in a sence because they get blems from major suppliers. I got an awesome deal on an Eagle 4340 crank with knife blade cut weights for.....$300 bucks! Turned 10 under. The machine shop that balanced my parts said it was one of the nicest crank's they have seen in 10 years.

Re: Need input on a motor rebuild please

Could also support a SyTy vendor and go through Tucker Auto Parts.

Re: Need input on a motor rebuild please

I definitely plan on going through one of the SyTy Vendors. Mike at Tucker Autoparts is one of the best damn people have met in the community. I will definitely go through Mike or John at Waller Performance for parts.

I think you all talked me into the 4-Bolt setup.
Do you guys think I am missing anything else from the list in my original post below?

Re: Need input on a motor rebuild please

Dude, if youre just going with a stock turbo or even the 57 Waller does you will be just fine with a stock build. Knock on wood but I have 204k on my stock rods. They get reconditioned and all but they are still just fine. Ive been through my motor a few timesand the times they have failed has been due to stupid errors. First was my oil pump pick up tube fell out after two years, Im convinced that had it not Ild still be on that motor. Then I got screwed by the machine shop on my crank all within a years time that happened. But as long as youre not doing anything stupid and you take good care of the motor there s no reason you should need all that. I built my motor with stock pistons even and altogether I paid $1200 for the machining and parts. I have 44k on hte motor since all that crap I went through a couple years ago and it still runs damn strong with the 20g on it and about 20 psi no alky. And i beat the hell out of it. If you plan on a much bigger turbo later then I could see but otherwise, why waste the money? Or am I just one of the lucky ones?

Re: Need input on a motor rebuild please

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I am well aware of the smog situation. Hopefully some friendly neighborhood gear heads can refer me to a "friend" at a smog place.

I already ordered the motor. Will probably get it in March. Now all I have to do is convince my wife it was all necessary. I have to admit that I hate spending this kind of money right now, but I really like the Ty.

I wasn't planning on spending this kind of cash since the motor was "supposedly" already rebuilt, but that seems to be a straight out lie. Some jerk off in La Habra, California - Ryan Tomlinson (spelling might be off) pretty much lied about the rebuild.

Oh well, hopefully I will have good luck moving forward.
