Need new Muffler for Sy, help please

I more or less have a specific question (tried the Search). I removed both stock mufflers (cat back) and need a new muffler. Without them, it's just too loud. Other than the ATR, what is a good choice. I 've seen some of you run Dynomax Turbo mufflers.....any good? I don't necessarily want to spend $500 either. What's a good choice?

Thanks

i wonder if there is something wrong with your cat, ive had no cat back for about 2-3 months, it does sound loud at first but you get used to it, sounds very good low rpm, and still not too loud at wot

it's not crazy loud but kind of too much. I felt bad for my neighbors when leaving the house this morning in the Sy at 6:00am.

One note however is that I do not have a pipe connected past the cat. I wanted to hear it for a while prior to making the decision to go straight back or not. Could it be louder just resonating from underneath the truck opposed to behind it. I am not just saying it's too loud in the truck either, it is outside too.

Cat is brand spankin new.

Thanks[/b][/u]

It is much louder coming just off the cat. Even with a straight pipe it is more quiet. I ran the Ty like that for awhile. Now I have a turndown after the cat and it is bothersome.

yeah it is louder with nothing after the cat.
I ran mine this way for awhile and the drone in the cab got old.

I now have a straight pipe all the way to the back of the truck with only the cat as a muffler and I think it sounds good and not nearly as loud or annoying as most of the fart can mufflers the ricers use.

I found out that my truck had the mufflers removed before I bought it. Didn't even realize it didn't have mufflers, though Twins said he could tell it was a lot louder than his Ty.

Last summer, it rusted off where they spliced in the straight pipe. The splitter after the cat is now the end of my exhuast. It's quite a bit louder now. Enough that I might even do something about it pretty soon.

There was a post here by someone who got the ATR kit and thought it was too loud. He did some looking around and found another muffler to swap into the ATR system. It didn't affect performance, but was very quiet (for the stealth approach). The link I had to it broke when the board got rearranged, and I haven't been able to find it with Search...

I've got a Dynomax Stainless 3" round Ultraflow, no kat, and it's not loud at all...from inside the cab...people who've heard it as I'm cruisin' alongside or right by them say that it sounds good. Though it occasionally sets off alarms in a parking garage from the "rumbling harmonics"....
