The one in my truck looks real different than the one I just bought off another list member. Anyone have a good pic handy?

Are sy and ty ecm boxes different? Were there any changes in the years?

i wish you asked this last week when I had both mine out.

I can take a picture of the one in the project truck for ya if that helps. Ill post it tonight. But just a warning, the ECM in the project truck doesnt look anything like other SyTy ECMs ive seen either, but then again, maybe that will help you.

They're the same thing. One just shows the bracket and DRAC module mounted on it. Remove the DRAC and the bracket and they'd be identical.
I heard there is a model of ours that looks really different but was made to mount under the hood. Hadn't seen it myself though.

You are showing the front and back of the ecm. :roll: While the other links mainly show the door access but they are the same ecm.
I'm letting the fellow that asked the questionknow that the ecm may look different if it has different brackets on it for different apps. and may have a DRAC on it as well, but still be the same ecm underneath. I also let him know that there is basically a "weatherproof" type that is a different color and ribbed(underhood mounting).

Can you get someone to take a pic of the one with the access panel in a different location? You sure it wasn't just a weird way the bracket was mounted to it? I'm curious as to how you could access the memcal on the board if that access panel were somewhere else. That is, unless the entire ecm underneath was rearranged(different altogether). Sounds neat. I've heard that the 1227730 ecm is very similar but missing one injector driver(I think ours only uses one of the drivers in it)and one other item(can't recall what the other item was now), but I thought the plug receptacles were different.

What's the number for that ecm? 7730(or whatever GM calls it now)?
Looks similar to the 7749 except for the placement of a couple things and the injector driver location and carrier style.
