New 92 Typhoon owner

Hey all, just purchased a 92 typhoon in Texas, flying down to pick it up and drive back to Boston on Aug 23rd. First car was a 91 s-10 blazer, always dreamt of having one of these. I plan to change the oil while down there, previous owner changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor all within 2k miles, anything else i should really do before taking a 2000mile trip with it? I'm thinking maybe drain/fill the tranny.

Re: New 92 Typhoon owner

Austin area, gunna spend friday in austin, and drive up from there saturday morning, direct, so long as it doesn't break down(knock on wood)

flying in at 3:30 pm, guy i'm buying from is in Pflugerville. havent worked out any details other than that. Know a good place around there to have oil changed/tranny fluid swapped? i'd like to at least do those before the drive. Also, anything in Austin i should see on our brief stay? i was told to go to 6th street friday and eat at some place called the salt lick?

Doug, my 2 cents, post up the route you are going to be taking back that way if you run into any problems, if there are owners along the route you have some help in the instance something breaks down.

no wonder guys are afraid to buy these things- whenever someone says they are taking it for more than a 5 mile trip everyone says its gonna end up on the back of a flat bed lol. oh yeah and make sure if you end up breaking down you end up getting a flat bed not a wrecker

Looks like either way you're coming through Nashville. Sent you a PM with my number. There's a few of us within 30 minutes of downtown just in case soemthing happens.

The one with the black C4 turbines on it?

6th street is nice. All of the college girls are back in town so there will be quite the selection down there. Salt Lick (the good one, anyway) is down in Dripping Springs probably a good 30 minute drive. They do have good BBQ though.

I'm not sure of any places I would recommend around there to take it to and have those things done. If you just wanted to drop the pan and change the filter and do the oil change yourself, you're more than welcome to drop by the house and use my garage or they just opened up a DIY shop where you can rent a lift and they give you tools. Both are not far from where the truck is located.

Also, on Saturday morning, we have our local morning Cruise-In at the Hot Rod Coffee shop if you wanted to stop by there on the way out. I know James is coming but I'm not sure if he's bringing his Syclone or ZR1.

I don't know anything about it. It had been on Craigslist for quite some time though and know the whereabouts of the location. I've never seen him drive it to any of the car meets/shows around here.

yeah, carfax says he has only put like 1k miles on it in the past 4 years, hope nothing is rotted out, he claims he takes it to work every week or two

You'll just have to blow out the carbon in it. Good thing we have 85 mph speed limits down here. :D

Re: New 92 Typhoon owner

I think that covers most of it. Just look over everything inside and out. Check over the bolts in/around the dash and look at the center console lid. They are usually cracked since they are plastic hinged and you can use that stuff for leverage.

Also, look behind the cladding to see if pieces are broken, cracked, or about to fall apart.
