New A2A installed and working great...A/C also ! ! !

As a few of you may have been following, I finished up the A2A in a lower thread with LOTS of pictures of the install from step one. Today I finished up the A/C also. It was a pain in the rear to get the condensor at a 45 under the bumper but I finally did it. I am getting it charged this evening and hope to have nice cold air. Wish me luck. I will get pictures of the A/C condensor and the rest of the system is in the stock location.

Even with the 2.5" piping for the A2A. Here is 1 picture before the A/C was put on today. I will get a follow-up picture in a little while and edit and install it under this one.

Looks good. Will the line clear the top port on the wastegate? If you get an aftermarket line they have a bend in it that will help it clear.

Question;

Rather then putting the support on the TB, why didnt you mock up one of the stock intercooler mounts so it looked a little smoother?

The stock intercooler mount will not hold this pipe on with 25+psi. It would look cleaner but there is a crap load of pressure trying to push this apart at the psi. it was easier to have it held together then have it pushed together using the lower brace. I actually don't think it looks to bad, but then again I did make it myself.

To each is own I guess. I'm not saying it looks bad. I just wondered why you didnt. I think I would of tryed it with the stock supports first. You never know it might hold just as much :dunno:

I had removed the bar and only had 1 under there anyway. It could have worked but it is held in place alot stronger the way it is now compared to having something pushing it together.

What about this: Flip the adaptor over and connect it to the 2 bottom bolts to the TB. Change out the 2 lower TB bolts out and put studs in. Then put one nut to hold the TB and the next nut to hole the adaptor. It would be somewhat easy to remove for maintance but clean.

This would provide the better of both ideas.

Mines is bolted up this way, I ran 22 psi with no problem.
I am using all T-bolt clamps .

Thats a good idea. I just think there is alot of stress on the TB with that setup. Even more so if all the tubing is hanging in the air with nothing supporting it from the intercooler up to the TB. :dunno: I mean even a fender mount would help out. take more work to mock up and would probably get in the way more. Which is why I thought of the IC supports.

Thanks Denny. Knew someone thought of it! :D

I just want to make sure it will work and cool fine brfore going to far. As for flipping the bracket over, I could do that but I like the look of the bracket. As for it putting undue stress on the TB, No, These pipes and stuff are super light weight. You would be amazed at how little they weigh. The bracket is just for support to hold it together IF the coupler starts to blow apart. It is not holding it all together so there is little stress on it. There are several people on here with the same TB bracket. That is where I got my idea in the first place.

What did you use to fit the Condensor down there?

I made a bracket and used ZIP ties till I get the smaller condensor. :rotf:

You dont need all that rigged up mess to make the hose hold on the throttle body. What I did was drill 4 small holes near the edge of the flange and put in 4 sheet metal screws with large heads and slide the hose on over them and snug down the $1 clamp. It has never blown off runing 25-26 psi and thre is nothing even visable and it can be done in 30 minutes. Here is a terrible pic of it but you get the idea.

That would work also, If I haden't already finished this up this way. :p Its working now so I am not going to mess with it. If I do it your way I will screw something up I am sure. Thats my luck ! ! !:squint: Great Idea though. Now if I could just get this truck running right with all these mods.

What about just welding a bead around the outside of the throttle body inlet, to give the hose something to "bite" onto? That's what I'm going to do...we'll see if it blows off.

all those hose clamps make me sick, get some real clamps and forget about any hose problems.
