New Alaska Owner - Sy #2227

Re: New Alaska Owner - Sy #2227

I called about it before it sold, but couldn't make it out to look at it until after someone picked it up. I didn't get any specific info on the truck except that it was a white/white '93. I think it's one of the ones I have on my list without a specified owner. I'll probably make an effort to find the new owner in the near future.

Give me a call when you decide to try and find them, I'll go with. Seems I've met most of the other sy/tyer's in this town, might as well continue meeting them.

Hey guys! Haven't looked at the site in a few days and just saw your postings. Aside from Jake (previous owner of #2227) Montana is the only other Syty person I've met here. I have spoken with Tim once on the phone but haven't actually met yet. I did get a call from Scott Foltz in Fairbanks about my old motor & tranny. Scott is military (USAF) and transferred to Eielson AFB from Mountain Home AFB in Idaho. He has a modded Sy.

BTW, mine is running fantastic!!! Very happy with it. Stu at FATS service finished the install and we got it back on Nov 9th. The new motor passed emissions with no trouble though most of the time the employees at the emissions referee station spent time gawking over the truck.

There's been no trouble starting when our weather has been colder and it handles just fine on snow and ice. Oh, did I mention it runs like a "BAT OUT OF HELL"! I used to own a Mercedes ML55 AMG which was no slouch, but this truck would eat it for lunch at least to 100. My truck idles smoothly and seems to be getting pretty good mileage so far. Needless to say it's a keeper and a great DD.

I do eventually want to get the ABS system fixed. The ABS and Ebrake warning lights don't come on when the ignition key is turned on for a system check and the ABS doesn't work when I've tried it on snow and ice. Perhaps the EHCU is bad, don't know for sure yet.

I spoke with Scott Foltz on the phone once. I'd like him to bring his truck down sometime in the summer, but he's hard to get a hold of.
Glad your truck is together and running well, Dave. I hope to see it out and about soon.

I'm out an about with it quite a bit, but I don't get out to Eagle River very much. I work at Bailey's Furniture at their new superstore at International and C street. I usually drive my Syclone to work but my wife drives it occasionally as well. We get a lot of people admiring it on a regular basis. More of these should be back on the road.

I work at Morrison Auto Group, which I guess is fairly close to your house, as I saw your Sy in Fairview once when the motor was out of it, so there's a good chance I may see it around.

You are right Tim, I do live pretty close to where you work. We live over on Nelchina St. near Fairview Elementary school. What kind of work do you do for Morrison? Sales, Mechanic, Parts? I am off work Thursday's and Friday's, perhaps I'll stop by and say hello!

I'm in the detail shop for the most part. It's on the other side of the lot from the showroom. Most of the guys in the shop would probably like to see your Sy, since they've all heard about my Typhoon from a coworker that I gave a ride to years ago.

Beautiful truck, and welcome to the community! One of the all-around cleanest trucks I've seen, and its good to hear that it's been tuned and restored well. Glad you enjoy the truck, they are a force to behold. Good luck with the ABS system, it was lousy from the factory so many disable it.

Hey Tim, I'm off work today so I'll probably stop by Morrison's perhaps this morning. Thanks to everyone for your encouraging words  This is the first SyTy I've owned; when they first came out I had a growing family, kids were young so the interest was more into minivans. Back in '89 I had purchased a brand new Plymouth Voyager Turbo which as a pretty quick. I should have kept it but sold it off up here.

Anyway I'm very happy with my Syclone; it'll haul and then again it'll HAUL

It was good to finally meet you face to face Tim. :D I'll talk to my wife and plan to bring our truck in sometime soon and have you detail it. I figured you would enjoy taking it for a spin plus it confirmed to me that the truck is indeed running like a Syclone is supposed to

Yes, your Sy is running very well from what I could tell. Good to finally meet you!

Jon, Pete's Typhoon is available for sale if you're interested. I also know of a 12-second Sy in town that's for sale.

Pete wants $14k for his Ty. Should be in the 11s if it ever gets to the track :p
The Sy is owned by a guy named Sam. I believe he's the original owner. The truck has about 66k miles, and only about 4k on the motor from what I recall. The motor was a warranty replacement with L35 heads. The truck has an ultimate chip and is lowered, but otherwise I think it's stock. There's a 12.98 timeslip in the glove box from like 1998. Sam never drives the truck. Tags expired in '04 or '05, but it runs great. Last I talked to him, he wanted $14k as well, but that was a couple of years ago. The truck is still in his driveway, so I know he's still got it.
