Will, Dobrick, and I went to the sport truck shootout this weekend in London Ky. It was hot as could be, but well worth the trip.
First time I have run the truck with the intercooler having water in it. I should really say ICE. I was seeing 90deg IAT temps on a 90 deg day. Try to do that with an Air/Air. Due to lower IAT though my AFR was a bit lean, so kept throwing more fuel in it. Last pass we really threw the ice in, which in turn made the AFR go lean again. Truck still ran well.
Will's ls motor ran but just wasn't ready for boost. Not worth risking an expensive motor trying to rush it.
I was able to do some wicked AWD burnouts, did I mention they were all filmed by Trucks TV and we hung out with Kevin and Ryan from teh show friday and saturday?
I should also mention we both did interviews for the show (pics to come).
We will be setting up a time for autographs at the next syty event.
Kevin interviewed both of us about our trucks, asked a few questions. Hopefully I don't look too much like a goof on tv. I am wearing my syty nats 10 shirt.
Before we left I took Ryan for a ride, boost launch leaving about 40ft of rubber, then threw him the keys to drive back. Both guys are really cool. I will admit I thought they were just TV guys, but they are far from that. Both true auto guys, know cars and just normal people. It was a really cool experience.
They both told me after my burnouts they are talking about doing an AWD project next, and want us to stay in touch after both our trucks get fully dialed in.
Pics to come when Will gets home. Air date will be sometime in Oct/Nov. It will be the episode they run the 454 and Lighting projects head to head. (both trucks were there also but couldn't be run due to insurance).
