New Camero SS with the LT1

Heh, brand new, still had the sticker. Old man said he paid like 46k i think, with 345hp. I asked if he wanted to race me and he smiled a little and looked at his friend and said sure...why not. little bastard had a smirk. (this being down in olympia, wa by the waterfront). So i followed him to 93rd off 99th street exit in tumwater. had like 20 other cars following by now. We lined up, he warmed up his street tires... (Really quick, im pretty much running stock at 15lbs -drops to 11lbs because of fuel pump, havn't put new one in yet) I set my brakes and got her up to about 15 lbs and we let it rip, both of us spinning. At 80 (little before 1/4) he pulled past me... or rather i lost my acceleration (at 11bls). We got back and everyone was giving the ty props and he was boasting about how he won... i gave him that, he was a car lengths behind me from 0-80... thats fine with me  its 1 im going to bed. rob
btw if anyone cares, it g-tech'd at 13.6 with me, 3 other passengers, and my subs.

Doomdead you sound like a nice guy so I mean no offense when I cite the following things wrong with your story:

1.) I'm sure you mean the LS1 motor.
2.) My friend bought a 01 Camaro SS and he only paid something like $28K.
3.) I definitely would not race at all on a bad fuel pump unless you enjoy a good set of homestyle fried pistons?

My bad, maybe i did hear him wrong about the lS1... however im sure he said the sticker price was 40k something. my girlfriend said he said 38k and im positive he said 46k... but like i said, thats what he 'said'... and ill keep in mind what you said and take it easy until i can get the new fuel pump in...

It was an SS for sure. he told me the price was like 45 and he told my girl that it was like 38.... i dont know.. he did wind up the tires pretty good through second gear and was telling me he had like 350 hp... shit was a long time ago... he would have beat me in the 1/4 but on the street i dont think so... im guessing he was running high 12's, and prob just a sec maybe two faster than me.

Yeah I think a lot of the LS1 guys are dyno'ing like 320HP at the rear wheels, when they are rated right around there at the flywheel!

If he was running a second or two faster than you then he would have laid waste to you on the street.

If it g-teched at 13.6 it's probally running a real world 14.5 if your lucky. You need to correct a few things before you race anyone else. Can't "represent" running like that.

Ya, my LS1 dyno'd just a tick under 320 with only a lid and an exhaust cut-out. Oh ya, it had 1700 or so on the clock too! If only I could get that powewr somewhere close to the ground untill about 30 mph.

The V6 Camaro is a base model or RS. The Z28 adds the V8 and the related heavier-duty parts. The SS is just a Z with another option package added on (exhaust, suspension, wheels, etc.).

i had 3 people in the car, my subs, my spare tire, etc.... i ran it at the track at a 14.2 with my ic off.... do i feel stupid or what... haven't pulled a new time yet (not allowed at the track with shaved door handles) but i've fixed a few things including a vacc issue i had and its running alright with low boosts,.. gotta pull the pump and put those hose clamps on like i forgot to then i can get my fp back up... right now it wont go over 50 (think its leaking past the silicon hose back into the tank...)
