I like it but, the bar should be parallel to the ground.

nice!! how does it handle??

200x better than the stock. it doesn't feel like a overloaded hay wagon in the turns.

dollar for dollar, the best mod iv'e ever done.

by the way this is a stock zq8 2wd front sway bar

way shorter arms= stiffer front sway bar.

if theres an interest in these, i'll make more

you made the bracket?

yup! :D can make more if thier wanted.

the bar is a bolt on, the bracket and the bolt are the only things needed.

You know, one of the endlink bolts holding the stock one on mine is stripped, so I've got to do something like this.

My only concern is that there is only one bolt is holding the bracket and I have seen this style work its way loose on other sway bars. Maybe a weld to give it a permanent hold on the bracket?

Great idea...

Re: new front sway bar mounting system.....

so the load of the sway bar is on the head of that bolt?

I guess it'll work, hopefully that bolt won't break.

i took it out for an hour afterwards, and literaly threw it into the turns ..purposely overcorrecting, and when i got home everything was just as i had started.

Weld that bracket to the arm, and you've got a decent setup. A single bolt holding the forces of both the shock, and the sway bar is a bad idea.

Re: new front sway bar mounting system.....

You could just get a set of 2nd gen lower arms as this is how all 4x4 2nd gens are mounted. Here is a pic I took of a stock 2nd gen setup:

SS what is the diameter of that zq8 bar? I've measured some other sway bars and I'd like to add the zq8 to my chart:

APPLICATION--------------------------BAR DIAMETER
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
1st Gen 4x4 Front----------------------------1.25"
2nd Gen 4x4 Front---------------------------1.43"

Suspension Techniques Rear--------------1"
2nd Gen Rear----------------------------------.913"

Thanks,

this is the shock bolt, it needs to move during compression, and rebound, so the suspension doesn't bind.

i have appx. 1000 mi on this setup now with no problems.

yup you could get a 2nd gen setup, but swapping lower arms is a huge hassle, this is desinged to be a 30 minute bolt on affair.

as to the size i think it is similar to the 2nd gen 4x4 sway bar. i believe it is 32mm

Re: new front sway bar mounting system.....

Just curious, do the second gen trucks have boxed arms as well?

32mm = 1.25"

Does that mean that a zq8 sway bar is the same as a 2nd gen 4x4 bar?

well if your math is correct it seems to be the same diameter as a 1st gen.

but.. much stiffer bar, when you consider a 2wd bar arms are appx. 6 inches shorter than the 1st gen 4x4 bar.
