An afpr is a adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Get a good one like a dequick, atr or something. I think someone has a used kb for sale. Sorry about my incorrect post. I still wonder why your mats go lower under boost. I don't think that's right. Stock fp is 43-43.5lbs. Get the dm file up!

I'm going to e-mail adam92 tonight to see how he made out w/ the dm stuff for me. Thanx for the info, still learning the lingo. I was just checking out afpr's but gotta wait. I'm laidup w/ a broken wrist so it's hard to justify spending w/ the wife w/ no income. (SUCKS)

I'm just outside of Reading. I'm not a member of naste so I don't know when or where they are. LI nah I don't think so I was there once and I'd rather not take the TY that far. Thanx anyway.

Yeah I know Aaron, in the "eastern gatherings" the white TY w/ "TYPHOON" on the windsheild is mine. I'm about 10 minutes from him. Today I reinstalled my stock chip and put a new Conrad pro. cap/rotor and found a vaccum leak. I also checked fuel pressure and my gauge showed about 46 lbs. I know it's supposed to be 43-43.5 but I still have the stock regulater. After all that I still get a surging like it's not getting enough fuel. It only surges over 10-12 psi up til then it pulls strong no problem. Like I said I even replaced the ATR chip w/ the stocker and no difference. I about had it, I love the truck but this sucks!!! People ask to go for a ride and I have to tell them it's not running right. That blows. Everyone keeps saying replace the vaccum lines, w/ what? Is there a replacement set off hard lines or just do it w/ rubber ones? I heard from my buddy and he is going to try to e-mail me the DM stuff this weekend. I'll post them if I can.Thanx again.

When u say autozone do u mean they have a kit or just get the rubber lines. If u do mean kit do u have a part #? Is it possible to have good fuel pressure but no volume. With the basics in mind it seems my truck is not gettng enough fuel, volume wise. Maybe injecters? Good, bad, dirty, I have no idea. I feel like I'm chasing my tail!! Also any idea if Ian is still making them?

Also, how's your fuel filter?

I just installed a new filter tonight but I haven't been able to run the truck yet. I'll find out in the morning, I'll do some test runs and maybe reinstall my ATR chip if things are better. The old filter was shot so hopefully that was my problem. Something so stupid and easy, DUH.I also was wondering if there is way to test fuel volume. As I said earlier it seems like I'm not getting enough fuel under boost. 8 out of 10 times it's not knock but just a sluggishness or bog like a dead cylinder. Is it possible under heavy ignition use(WOT) that the ignition isn't holding it's own, or would that induce knock. I got my DM files now I have to figure out how to open them and post them. The problem is they are zip files and I have the program but no idea on how to use it. My computer literecy isn't to good. Once I get it figured out I'll post or e-mail them.Later.

You HAVE to check the fuel pressure during acceleration. Tape the gauge to the windsheild. Fuel psi MUST go up one psi for each psi of boost. So at 15 psi plus your base 46 psi you should be at a total of 61 fuel psi.
When I bought my Syclone I had the same EXACT problem as you. At idle I had 46 psi. But under boost my fuel dropped to 36 psi and the truck was very sluggish with a lot of knock retard. A new Walbro 255lph fuel pump and new fuel filter fixed the problem completely.
Bet this is your problem.

Thanx for the heads-up Eluding. I'll have to try that and see wat's up. I had the feeling that the pressre was not enough but not knowing how to check it. Also I got to run my truck and it still stumbles allittle at full boost. I have an ATR boost control valve and with it so cold it seems to be sticking alittle. After I messed with it I got 15 psi but still not right. When you had the trouble with your truck if you lifted the throttle alittle did it pick-up or continue runing rough?

Anytime I had over about 8-10 psi of boost the truck would just fall on its face and boost would increase VERY slowly from that point on. The new Walbro pump made a tremendous difference.

The truck shutters or misses. That's why I thought that I wasn't getting enough fuel. I tried your test today. My base was 40-42 psi then at 5 psi of eledged boost it jumped to 52 psi of fuel. I don't know? I bought 14 ft of vaccum line and am in the middle of replacing that crap. This is like a never-ending up hill battle. Those pressures were what my gauges said, accurate or not, don't know. As long as they are consistent they should still do the job. Just going to keep triing different stuff till I get it figured out or giveup.

Don't let it frustrate you man, rite of passage...
Your truck is ten years old, it needs some refreshing, probably all the way around.
This isn't anything new I haven't heard personally for the last 7 years.
It's just a matter of going through all the stuff that needs going through.
Shit, some guys replace all the electrics with oil changes...
Others don't.

Trust in the community.
You'll get through it...
Or somebody will be buying your truck cheap and putting the same time in.

Stick it out, I say.

Oh no don't worry I'll never sell my baby. It's just that you want to smack it around a few times your so frustrated with it. The body could rot out from around and all I'll do is transplant the motor to something else. The other thing is that the knowledge of the problems and solutions aren't there, I'm still learning. I'm also still trying to figure out how to open my DM files. They are zip files but I can't figure out how to get them open. I have the program to do it, just no f-ing clue how to. Hey will_in_denver hopefully I'll be lucky like u were and only have a vaccum leak.

Know how I figured out it was a vacuum leak?
Replaced the 02, nope not that.
Replaced the fuel filter, nope not that.
Replaced the Fuel Pump, nope not that either.
Must be a bad FPR, time to go adjustable... NOPE not that either.
Then Greenie reminded me of a situation he had with vac lines...
Front elbow under the manifold. GRRRR!

I just take it for granted, trust the community and enjoy the ride...

I have always said that our trucks "are like a supermodel girlfriend that gives great head"...
You have to put up with 'er shit ALL the time, but when she puts out, SHE PUTS OUT!!

Hey Will-in-Denver nice graphic. I don't like taking mine in the snow but it's alot of fun when I do. It don't take much to get them spinning. I have faith in the help, just till I get it figured it's quite frustrating. I havn't done the fuel pump yet, but which is most recomended. I'm almost done w/ the vaccum lines. I finished the engine compartment I just have to get the new boost gauge line done. Installed a dual pillar pod and am running new heavier white 1/8" tubing so it don't kink again. It's been a run-around finding fittings, I replaced the brake booster fitting w/ a "T" w/ 1/8" comp. fitting for the gauge. It came out pretty good though.
