3rd gear on the th350 and 700r4 is both 1.00:1

Nvm lol, shifting from 1st to 2nd at 65mph is when it still had the 2.73s in it. Eitherway i think this is a cool swap. I personally have never seen a monte ss with this engine in it.

Id like to swing down and see whats left and usable on this thing...Are you only using the motor and parting the rest?

pretty, just motor and harness, I might end up using the tranny, I wasted you could.t change the shaft, so if I can do that it would be worth it, od tranny are getting hard to find cheap, so ii can use that its worth it.
and my Cutlass has 2.56 gears, Haha shift to second at 65 abduction had it @ 143.6mph on my gps

MCK, the 700r4 with the aux valve body should work perfectly in your swap. 90, 91, 92 are the years you are looking for. You can recognize one by the semi-circle ring in the casting on the passenger side of the case. These held up better than prior years. Make sure you know beyond a shadow of a doubt what gears you are running in the rear, it will make all the difference in your build. Are you building for street or track use?

Street use, I love the car show scene, I'm in a car club here in middleboro, the arch angel knights, we ease money for charity. I will be mostly just cruising around, with a few passes at the track possible, but just for fun I don't need a race car there will always be some one faster, I just wanna have fun! Oh man I just read my last post, the auto text on my phone sucks! Haha

congrats on the TY, I was under the impression that David at the salvage yard wanted a high price for it lol

I first spotted the TY on March 25th, where is the 87 Cutlass at the yard? I did not notice it, how rare is it really?

haha, wellll i don't really wanna say what i got it for, but i will say i've gotten more than a few complete cars for less than i paid for that crumpled up beer can. as for the cutlass it had jsut come in a week before. after i got the rest of the parts out of the cutlass i figured out that some one had converted it to five speed, but it have factory g body pedals in it, not hacked up F or A body ones. As for how rare it is, i will put it this way, i love g bodys i personally have had a 78 malibu wagon, 2 88 monte ss', 1 86 ss, and two 78 cutlass'. my first cutlass was a factory 4 speed car, it was acctually a 442 in every aspect except for the fact that they dint make one. (they made one in 77 and then skipped 78, but then made on in 79). my cutlass was one of 3 standard G body cars i have seen in my life. ( i am 23) I saw one factory 5 speed cutlass saloon, which is really ugly at the worchester summer nationals a few years ago, and then the one in the junk yard was the 3rd.

Re: New member, from Ma. doing a typhoon swap

i finally figured out what that tranny was, it is a borg warner T50, it would explode behind a typhoon motor. they came in late 70's monzas skyhawks, and very few cutlass'. I put the tranny in my 69 chevy C10 short bed today, bolted right up, all i have to do is have 2 inches taken out of my original drive shaft, cut a hole in the floor, and weld my long shift handle onto the 5 speed shifter so it clears the bench seat. ill probaly post up some pictures later.
