Hey everyone,

First off, I'm Mark and live in Alabama for the time being. My wife and I got stuck here because of work and college but we plan on moving back to our home state of PA when the time comes. I don't own a sy or ty....but it's been a long dream. I've owned 2 blazers, 1 jimmy and 1 S10. I love these trucks. I also had a 95 c3500 6.5L. Right now, I have an 88 blazer 2.8 with 120,000 on it plus a spun bearing. I hate the 2.8s but I bought it for the rust-free, accident-free body. It had 99,000 when I bought it. I would LOVE to transplant a syty heart into it even though it's only 2wd but I may just build a 4.3 and see what happens. My avatar is a pic of my 85 jimmy. My dad and i built a 4.3/700r4 for that and i ran a few runs at the track here (best 1/8th 9.8 @ 74mph). It had the torque off the line and hooked up but ran out of steam about 2/3 down the track. The comp ratio was 10.5:1 so I thought about spraying it but sold it before I ever got around to it. I don't know a whole lot about the syty trucks but I'm here to learn so I probably won't be chiming in with advice too often.

Well, I'll call it quits here, don't wanna get boring. lol oh, and i came over from s10planet

Welcome. By the time you transplant a syty engine you will have spent as much as a true syty. The market right now is making syty's very budget friendly.

thanks for the input. I'd love to buy one. I have a hard time finding one anywhere around here but I'm always looking. like I said, I'm from PA and I've dealt with horrible rust problems so I might be extra picky. I don't wanna get into that again. especially on a syclone or typhoon.

A lot of SyTy's were collected even when new. There are obviously some SyTy's that were driven year round, but a lot them are put away every winter in the Northern rust belt states. I wouldn't eliminate a SyTy that is in the Northeast because your worried about rust. Mine was never driven in the snow and I would say a majority of SyTy's I have seen at meets (75%) are rust free.

Don't be afraid to look outside your local area. I just bought a white ty 2500 miles away. After all done it was at my door for 3500 bucks, needing some trans work but otherwise in good shape.

Agreed. If I restricted myself to local Sy's (I bought mine in VA), I have seen one Sy forsale locally in 10 years, that would have fit my standards for a what I was looking for in a Syclone.

X2, only one that I know of ever popped up close to me, and it was a turd. It was #747 - don't buy it whatever you do. Good luck!

x2. I don't need to re-state how far I went for the ideal truck. Let's just say that for what Jeff paid for his truck I paid for SHIPPING alone! :rotf:

(well, not quite...but close)
