New member ... sort of ... bought my old TY back today

Hi all

It been 4 years without my Typhoon, but finally today, I came to terms with the guy I sold it to, to sell it back to me.

It´s a black ´93 with roof rack. 102 K miles on the car, but complete engine rebuild at 80K, new suspension, new drive axles, exhaust etc. Pretty good shape I´d say.

Looking forward to getting back into the SyTy community and relearn everything I have forgotten these past 4 years.

A couple of quick questions:

The stock wheels needs a full restoration and I was thinking of getting some rims with more bling in the meantime .... what are the correct sixe/offset/backspacing if I want to run a tad larger wheels?

When the boost builds up there´s a noticable whooosh kind of sound. When letting off the throttle, it has a noticable sound almost like the turbo is winding down .... is this a sign of a worn turbo? It had the same sound 4 years ago, but not nearly as loud.

The guys mechanic has installed a larger intercooler in the area where the battery used to be and this way gotten rid of the plastic airduct that passed on to of the fan shroud. Could this be the reason for the noise?
Boost seems to hit 10 pretty easily.

Thank you

Welcome back. I've only been here for a couple of months myself. If you want to see some really wierd SyTy stuff, goto Sportmachines, Gallery, Vendors, John Waller, 6-speed. That's where you can see my blown, turboed, 6-speed, and AWD Sy. No I did not build it.

The sound is from the cold air induction...now pulling air from your passenger's side fender..That is why there is no crossover tube. Welcome back..

The VIN ends with 0637, does that mean that my TY is number 637?

Affirmative. Congrats and welcome back. Just like 97 CAIVIAROSS said the sound is coming from the cold air induction as for the wheels click the link you can get all the offset and spacing info you need there http://sytyarchives.com/howto/viewarticle.php?article_name=wheel_tech.php&dir=exterior . Also I'm still new myself but the search feature on the top menu will come in handy so you might wanna get familiar with that it will answer a lot of your questions I know it did for me.
