Thanks for the add. Just picked up a Typhoon from Massachusetts and it now resides in Chicago. Its not the prettiest and seemed to have a little bit of a rough life, but I love it and want to get it back to being in the condition that it should be in. even though I would love to modify it I have other vehicles to play with and would like to just make it a basic bolt on car to keep it as reliable as possible. My mom works at a GMC dealer which I plan to take it too to just get looked over. Also going to send it for a professional detail and then can get started on replacing/touching things up.
My love for these started back when my dad had shortly owned one back around 2007. I believe it was a black/gray one that was pretty mint with around 70k miles or so owned in the chicagoland suburbs (Bartlett). Him and a friend had just bought it to sell. Recently after I have saved some money I have started to look for rare/old school cars. I just bought and sold a 37k mile 87 Pontiac Fiero that was Mint. I also grabbed a 87 Monte carlo ss which I still have and had plans for but now plan on selling to fund this. After selling the Fiero I remembered about the Typhoon and then my search began. After losing 2 auctions on Typhoons on ebay I went to Craigslist and finally came across this one. After speaking with the owner who was very nice and knowledgeable I felt comfortable enough to make a quick flight out. I also own a 01 Mustang Bullitt that is mint and after owning a couple of mint cars. I decided with the Typhoon instead of buying one in great shape and spending $10g+, I would find one in decent shape and make it a fun not so crazy project I can still drive around meanwhile. Has original zr1 wheels not replicas which I eventually plan on getting the stock ones. Would like to put a rear glass back on with the wiper assembly and pull off the Sirius radio antenna without hopefully pulling paint off. Seems to be small surface rust only nothing major except the rusted out rear bumper support. Radio didn't have any sound coming from the speakers. Was a wiring mess, so started to clean up the wiring with a buddy today. Can use some interior parts, water got in by the driver window, floor board is solid though with some surface rust inside. Pretty much all the plastic panels have scratches, middle compartment is loose/broke along with the glove compartment. I am and plan on taking progress pix as I go along and am very excited so stay tuned and any advice/pointers/questions are more then welcome.
