Even if Syclones were decent on mpg it would go down the drain quickly because the whisle of the turbo like a drug.. even when Im stone broke and need to get the most out of my fuel I still need to get into it a bit to ward off my addition.. you'll have that addition as well if you purchase one

Shoot! That's my problem already (without the turbo whistle). This thing is just too fun to not get on it every now and then. I drove a friends 84 Mustang GT Turbo around for a week or so a couple of years back.. Not very fast, but God a love that sound!

As for the motorcycle thing, that'll be my MPG savior. I'm not looking into a crotch rocket for speed, but maybe something like a medium size cruiser (think Honda VTX 1300, etc).

Is it so wrong to want a truck with enough power and speed to catch people off guard, (so-called) decent gas mileage, a bed that can haul a couple things once a month and a cool factor of 20 on a 10 point scale?!?!?

Nope, it's not wrong at all. That's why I bought mine. I have a bike, a Camaro and a Syclone. It helps that 2 out of 3 are paid off but they are all toys. You just have to be realistic with what you want to use them for. I bought the Sy for obvious reasons, but it just so happens to have a bed also. If I want to haul my bike to a track day or take it to a shop in an emergency, I can do it. That's not what it's meant for but it sure comes in handy just in case. I hope the others haven't dissuaded you from SyTys because they are awesome trucks. All they are saying is don't expect them to be the do-it-all trucks they seem like they can be. They are still toys first and foremost.

well with exception to the cool factor, it seems you already own exactly what youre looking for.

SyTyless......for now!
Re: New.. Potential Sy owner..

Our friend owns a Syclone, and he works for a precast company. He used the truck as a DD from day one, driving it around construction sites, hauling stuff, and thrashing it on the street. 134,000 mles later, his truck is sitting next to our garage waiting for a new engine. At first it doesnt look too bad, but the bed is totally shot, along with rust and broken interior bits. Not trying to disuade you from buying one, but treated like a truck, they dont hold up too well. Welcome to the boards BTW. Those C3's are really nice, just at a cost:rotf:

Re: New.. Potential Sy owner..

The most I had in mine was a washer and dryer. About 400#'s. I average 13mpg but I do mostly city driving. The nice thing about these trucks is half throttle is all you need to pass someone. Light turns green and boom, your gone.

cost wise...hmmm....
Had my truck for 1/2 a year...

Truck cost...12k
mods...........3k
relplaced ignition and fuel system...1k
washing and waxing(its gota look good)...100$
car cover...250
total...16,350$
Miles put on in 6 months...1200.
time spent under hood....hours and hours. But I know my truck good now.

SY's and TY's are toys. nothing else. Could you use for DD? yes but thats like using a 1957 chevy for a DD. Why? oh wait I did use my Belair for a DD. :)

I love my Sy but I know its limmits and uses.

Re: New.. Potential Sy owner..

I use mine for a daily driver.
I haul crap in it, washer dryer last weekend, couches, garbage, engines.
I put 87 octane in it.
I park it at the grocery store next to the shopping cart return (not that it gets used)
I fart in it.
I drive it in the rain.
I have not changed oil in awhile, but really should get on that.
Anti lock brake light just turned on.
Check engine light was on last weekend but has gone away.

I am not normal, and don't suggest any of the above. For someone new to these trucks they can be your worse nightmare and largest pocket drain you can find. Yes sometimes more than girlfriends.

Wasnt really trying to, its nothing personal, its just that GM no longer knows the meaning of "cool" and an ugly underpowder 6000 pound truck doesnt exactly make me shiver on the coolness scale, its not your fault its GMs.

The SS'a are fairly quick, they can hual stuff, probably will end up with the same gas mileage as a Sy depending on how heavy your foot is, it really all comes down to why you want to deal with all the maintenance, headaches, parts hunting and wrench time youre going to have to put into another piece of fine GM engineering, thats now 15 years old.

No offense taken.. I was half joking..

The C3 is roughly the same vehicle as the SS.. Differences:
20 less HP (325 HP LQ4 in the C3, 345 LQ9 in the SS, both 6.0Liter)
3.73 gears instead of 4.10's.
17" Rims instead of 20's
A much nicer interior IMHO than the SS.. Basically the Denali appointments before they started calling them Denali's.

The reason I want to change? I REALLY want a bike.. but I still have needs (and wants most of the time) for a quick truck from time to time as well. The truck is paid off, and if I can get around 15 for her, then hopefully I can split that between a Sy and a used bike.. That way I stay out of the payments..
