It's a beauty ring that wraps around the outside of the compressor.

As for the March cover, that looks right. You'll need a compressor clutch remover to install it as the kit comes with a new clutch that is drilled & tapped to mount the cover.

Damn, that's what I thought. I have never pulled one of those before. Does Autozone or Kragen rent the necessary tool kit for this? The only way I see that coming off is by drilling out rivets...doesn't sound fun. If anyone has a walkthrough or pics of the procedure, I would really appreciate it.

are you going to keep the inner fenders out? i don't think i could have something that clean w/o them and be cleaning all the time

I haven't decided yet, but most likely I will put them back in. Going to drive it for a while with them off while the motor's being broken in, plus I don't drive it in the rain or dirt so it's not so bad.

It's really not that hard, just like pulling the PS pulley off of the pump.

Yeah, Autozone rents the puller.
Actually, I think I kept the one I rented, so if you can make it to D&B's on Sunday I can bring it. Or, if you're in the Milpitas area Wed, Thur or Friday this week I can meet you somewhere. Let me check when I get home from Phoenix tomorrow.

Jeremy,

Congrats on a great looking job! Leave the AC compressor cover off for contrast! LOL Actually I'm glad to see you left the AC in. Seem like allot of folks at this level have removed the thing.

I've driven quite a bit W/O the wheel pants with no ill effect but then again my motor doesn't look like yours either.

Right on man...yeah, let me know if you have that tool and I'll run up to Milpitas and pick it up from you later in the week. Summit ships stuff fast so I should have the March AC cover by then.

Thanks Don, it's been too long since I've driven it. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't anxious to fire this beast up. Yeah, pulling the A/C wasn't an option and it sure as hell wasn't easy to get a PT72GTQ, 3" IC piping, and 4" intake and filter in there but it all fits (just barely). Besides, chicks don't dig riding around in a black/black vehicle with no A/C during the summer  BTW, congrats on the 12s...that's good to see

I have the AC clutch puller at work now.
LMK if you'd like to meet somewhere Thursday or Friday to pick it up.

Jeremy! It's been a real thrill following your pics in this thread. Keep up the great photos! I am almost as anxious as you, to see what kind of results you get with this new motor!! Send me an email sometime!

Hey man can you check the number on the box of the puller you "rented" from them. I have been there twice and first time they gave me puller 9005 witch is to big, so i went back for the 9006 and it had a 9005 marked on the puller inside.

Thanks,
Adam

I got mine from Autozone, so here is the PN on the box.
Keep in mind this is about 4-5 years old, but the PN is OEM# 27002
Bar code # 76812 27002

Re: New RPM Motor Pics - It's Coming Together

Did you do anything special to get the turbo to clear the AC compressor? I just got my 72BB and am having fitment issues. It's a 4"inlet, 2.5" outlet and it hits the AC compressor pulley. I guess your's is a 3" outlet and it fit OK?

Wonder if anyone makes a smaller pulley for the AC.....

Re: New RPM Motor Pics - It's Coming Together

It's a Precision PT72GTQ DBB (4" inlet, 3" outlet) and it barely clears the AC bracket and idler pulley. I am using a custom RPM 3" intercooler outlet pipe, though. The turbo had to be clocked a certain way in order to obtain the necessary clearance.

On a separate note, I received the billet AC compressor cover from Summit. Will install it this weekend and post another pic with the complete March pulley set installed.

Lucky you. I have a Turbonetics 72BB with ATR headers which doesn't fit.

Your build is looking good.

Re: New RPM Motor Pics - It's Coming Together

Today, I swapped out the AC compressor clutch with the March one and installed the billet cover. I also finished the PCV catch can lines and teed the heater core, water pump and turbo center section coolant lines with braided AN hose. Ran the wiring for the QTP electric cutout into the cab and hid the switch in the center console; it tested good...very stealth :) Still waiting for my dual Walbro pump assembly and the RaceTronix dual pump wiring harness kit. Once I have the fuel system buttoned up, I can finally fire this beast up.

Niiiice!!

Hey I forgot that I have the bullet nose for the water pump pulley.
Do you want it? It'll add that finishing touch. ;)

Sure, I'll take it off your hands. Does it weight much? Maybe I can swing by your work next week and pick it up when I drop off the AC clutch tool. Thanks Rick

Lookin good Jeremy, you did a really good job putting it all back together, your attention to detail is showing through.

Last time I saw your truck I swore it didn't have A/C, is this the same one on a different truck?
