Thanks...yes, same truck. I've always had A/C. Anyone know how much 76 cool blue 100 octane is these days because I don't plan on running 91 in this truck anymore.

Just for an idea, I get VP 100 for $6.99 at one place & $6.59 at another.
Kind of makes worrying about $4 gas a moot point.

Part number on the March AC clutch/pulley? Is it by chance any smaller at all than the stocker?

I went by the 76 station at Almaden and Foxworthy today. It's $6 even for a gallon of 100 octane. So I guess it's going to be $120 fill-ups from now on for the Syclone, but I'm not going to drive it daily so whatever. I have too much $$ into this motor to screw around with 91 anymore. I might continue to use Torco even with the 100. The Meth injection should help a lot too.

Re: New RPM Motor Pics - It's Coming Together

Truck is officially back on the road today :) Lots of tuning ahead, but it runs well so far. Did some logging with Datamaster and kept it under 10psi...going to take it easy until she's properly broken in. Here are a couple of pics after I washed it this afternoon. That front end is sitting too high, going to uncrank the torsion bars and bring it down a bit.

God, that looks tough. Well done.

Mind if I ask what you are using for the turbo inlet pipe? I was looking for something other than a 4" cobra head, yours looks good.

Thanks. It's two 4" 90 elbows connected with thin pieces of steel sleeving inside. I sanded and deburred the metal pieces inside before connecting everything up. I also had to switch to an S10 radiator without the heater hose fitting for the elbows to clear.

I will take more pics after the truck is properly detailed. Here's the custom tubular driveshaft loop. I still need to take a pic of the QTP electric cutout.

Re: New RPM Motor Pics - It's Coming Together

I drove the truck to work today, which was the first drive with the new motor. The IAC counts are through the roof (over 100), the idle is too high and the vacuum reading seems l low (16Hg). I tried resetting the IAC motor by jumpering ALDL pins A and B and I could hear it running and clicking. I also pulled both ECM fuses to clear the computer and that didn't make a difference. Sprayed carb cleaner around all the vacuum fittings, throttle body etc. with the motor running and didn't find a leak. Any ideas? Here's the DM log file from this morning's drive:

What ever chip/tune you had is NFG now.
Not sure what cam you have, but with the McCam I had, that was about where my vac. was.

Re: New RPM Motor Pics - It's Coming Together

It's a custom Nolan tune with WBO2 patch applied. I hope I can figure out this lame IAC problem. Last time it did this, I just bought a new IAC and that fixed it, but this one isn't very old...agh.

This is a problem that is similar to what I just went through. You might need to adjust you TB screw for minimum air settings to get the IAC counts down to a normal level. Do you have problems with hot restart as well?

Re: New RPM Motor Pics - It's Coming Together

No, because the TB worked perfectly when I took it off the original motor. Nothing has changed with it, unless spraying carb cleaner into it to clean it off hosed the IAC. It's idling too high. Anyone know what the best way to find vacuum leaks is? I always just spray carb cleaner around suspect areas with a cold motor. Is there a better way? If I can't figure it out, I guess I'll just order a new IAC.
