Re: new rpm turbo ?'s

if you mean the lines in the block, i'd just remove the lines and put plugs there

Re: new rpm turbo ?'s

how do you hook them up if there are no ports to do so?

do you reuse the studs that bolt it to the exhaust or just put some new stainless allen heads in place of them?

does the 90 degree fitting in the oil pan for the return just thread out or how do you get the new fitting in there

Re: new rpm turbo ?'s

if it isn't watercooled you can't hook them up. the line unthreads at the elbow and the pan

Sorry, I thought you had the water-cooled center section but were missing the lines to hook it up. Yup, just block the ports on the block.

I just used the factory studs.... but be careful with the top left stud (looking at the face of the flange)... sometimes that stud needs to be ground down about 1/8" so that it will clear the turbo housing.

It's a pain getting the nuts on - hold the turbo up off of the flange so that just a couple of threads of each stud are showing - start each nut, then spin them on as you lower the turbo into place.

There are pics of the turbo drain line fitting, at the oil pan, on my photobucket page - see sig for link

The kit should have come with a stainless plug to put in the front of the lower intake. Mine did. Use lots of pb blaster on the turbo studs and nuts or you will be extracting that stud out of the flange when it breaks off. I put some hitemp antisieze on the threadswhen I bolted the turbo back up.

If you don't have Datamaster or TunerProRT (along with an ALDL cable from Moates) I'd recommend getting one so you can monitor how the new turbo is affecting your boost, AFR's, etc. The factory boost gauge is pretty much useless, and either of the above programs can help you keep an eye on boost so you don't grenade your motor.

i have a greddy 3 electronic boost controller ,and a autometer boost gauge . i havent hd the chance to really check into the datamaster stuff yet . I am still trying to figure out my 7531 msd box in my racecar so once i get a handle on that i will dig into this ,but i was planning on locking th boost level in at 12-15 lbs to get me by for now. i need to talk to someone about everything that i need before i just start buying things i dont need

Come on up to the drags in Sabin on Saturday... I'll be there with the GN, weather permitting.

If you changed airflow enough to matter, your chip will need to change. Contrary to popular belief, the ECM *won't* adjust fuel to meet increasing airflow.

If your new turbo isn't moving enough additional air to require a change in fuel, it really isn't doing much good.

Re: new rpm turbo ?'s

i would deffinatly like to have someone who has done some tuning on these before take a look at it and show me things to watch for .
a little lowdown on the truck
as far as i know engine is stock
de-quick air to air intercooler
turbonetics stage 1 turbo /wastegate from RPM
it does have a chip in it but i dont know whose or what is is
aftermarket FPR
walbro 255 FP
greddy profec boost controller (that i still havent figured out yet)
i drive it pretty easy because i am not interested in putting a motor in it any time soon and i KNOW that there is a bunch of refinements that need to be done to make it 100% driveable to what i think it is capeable of, till then its sunday cruiser with occasional blips of the throttle
I am down in rochester ar the power tour and heading to madison tomorrow so i dont thint ill be traveling to sabin on sat . I know that the turbo is DEFFINATLY moving more air , I CANT wait to get a safe tune in this thing to really lay into it on the street

Drop me a line when you get back in the area... I've tuned several of the trucks in the cites.
