Aloha guys... some of you may have read up on some of this on a FB page where a guy in Hawaii had planned to take a Sy off its original Chassis and set it on a 2WD S10 chassis that had previously converted to V8 power. His plan had been to give it to his son. so his son had a cool, reasonably reliable and safe vehicle to drive.
The poster was met with comments of being a troll and bashed and beat on... Don't get me wrong.. I thought he was crazy too. He did however have a complete S10 CAMEO he was going to use as a donor.
Crazy as it would seem I was willing, to take the balance of the parts off his hands... (or, at least look at them) I've known him for years and even though the Island has 900k population it really isn't that large a place.
This Sy, #2271 has just shy of 258k miles; and is in remarkably good shape, wearing almost all of its original paint. Somewhere after the original owner sold it, someone gutted the AC, along with a LOT, of the electrical components. Amazingly it still runs... Sometimes. I'm in the process of sorting the electrical and making it whole. without doing what I originally intended.
I ended up buying #2271 complete, and having it transported home. Shortly after that, I saw another Sy, #0495 pretty well worn, but being daily driven, a week or so later it showed up for sale. I called and spoke with the owner.
Mechanically very complete... converted to Air to Air IC, bigger turbo, headers, carbon driveshaft, meth injection, and a bunch of other mods... Google for pics of what it looked like a few years ago and you would be shocked of what it looks like today. 17x11 and 17x9.5s This truck was VERY LOVED at one time. but apparently it became a work truck. IT had almost 140k... and it looked like 400k.
But it starts like a dream every time. They previous owner was meticulous about the mechanics. But he lived on a boat. Owning a Syclone and living on a boat, in Hawaii, without a garage? NOT GOOD... its physically in ROUGH SHAPE...
Anyway... I bought it with the intent of using it to piece back #2271 ... Then realized that almost everything that is damaged or missing can come off a 4.3 S-10.. Except maybe a whole engine harness. So right now it serves as a guide (or a blueprint) on how to put a Sy back together.
Pics are on my phone... will post them in a bit when I'm near wifi.
