Hello, I'm Rob.. In Mid July I bought a 89 Convertible 2wd S-10 With a
Syclone Engine, And Interior in it.. I don't really know anything about
Turbos, when it comes to modifying them.. I have as Tight schedule,
and a semi tight budget. I already Did Plugs, Wires, Cap, and Rotor..
I purchased a A2A InterCooler for it (not on yet).. I live in the
Philadelphia Pa Area (19076).. I would like to know if there is anyone
that knows (ALOT) about these trucks.. I don't want to have a
10 second Truck, just faster than what it is now.. I have read in a few
different Places that a Syclone tips the scale at or around 3500 to
3700 lbs, My S-10 weights around the 2400 to 2600 lbs, I know that
they say around every 77lbs is 1/10 of a second.. I just want to know
What has to be done to get a Syclone to Run in the mid to low 12s.
I won't buy a $6,000 block and start from there ( not just yet). I just want
simple/easy Upgrades or bolt-ons.. Also where to buy things like a 3 Bar
Sensor, Chip UpGrades, 3" DownTubes, and so on...
I would take any help I can Get..
Thanx,
Rob (Sy-10)

If you are only 2,400-2,600 pounds and have a Syclone engine, all you need to do is hook up and you will easily be mid to low 12's.

Slicks and trackion bars

What A2A kit did you get?

My first thing I would buy is a scan tool and make sure its running right. It seems a lot of the conversions aren't in tune (its true as well for the average SyTy). An out of tune truck, will eventually ruin the internals of the engine, a modified engine will do it even quicker. These trucks are not a vehicle you can just buy part and bolt them on and hope everything was right before. Your wallet will get really light quick.

Syclone can run mid 12's or better, with a good tune, 3Bar chip & map a few other supporting mods. Your truck will have traction issues though (I assume its 2wd). Some sticky tires might help, but if you have a stock rear end it won't last long.
