I was holding off on buying a TY, because I wanted one of these, but passed on it, because, from what I have seen/ heard they aren't all that fast.

HA!! A 6.0L w/a 6 speed stick and 3.73s to the ground on lo-pro 20s? I'll bet 1 out of every 30 new owners will ever be able to launch that thing. A Sy should be ok in the 1/4 mile and killer against it in the 1/8th. With a good driver and some drag radials, it might be a bit harder.

This is not the extended cab Escalade 6.0l powered a/t awd truck they announced a few months ago. This is a stripper, lightest body, GM parts bin truck. I understand about traction but let's see the numbers.

Not really related to the Power Tour truck. No awd, not a traditional big block. Just a cheap answer to the Lightning and SRT-10. If it was the April issue I would have thought it was an April Fools Day joke. But it's in there. Pick up the issue and get the details.

It sounds like a nice setup, but I agree.
Unless your a hell of a 6 speed gear jammer its gonna be tough to launch.

I'll believe it more when i see some numbers and they hit the streets.

Definitely gonna have to go test drive one.

The only new truck from GM with the SS badge I remember seeing is a 2003 ext cab truck. I can't remember which magazine had it ,but at the time I wasn't very impressed. I bet thats why I dont remember. I guess I need to check out the new HOT ROD. 6-speed , rubber flooring and a cloth bench seat. WTF!

Your right, My gm sources say that the new '03 ss will be available only in an extended cab version. There may be some "copo" units that get built, but not for the masses... fuckin figures.... Chevy won't do the deal, where is GMC's guys when you want some new power??? And none of that 4 wheel steering shit either...

The writeup in GMHTP and all the other mags is an extended cab a/t awd truck. This is the first I've seen of this one. it is not the same truck, only thing the same are the front and rear facias.

I am truly hoping that Hot Rod got their facts right...I think a lot of people are truly in shock that GM would actually do this....create a reg cab 1500 6.0L V8 6sp truck. I know what I would rather have in my stocking...
