New Ty owner- Chicago area

New owner for a 1992 Typhoon. The sy/ty vehicle always interested me and this one just happened to cross my path at the right time/place. Although the previous owner did not know much of the vehicle, it ran well and mechancally was sound. Needs a little cosmetic work but I'm fine with that. Will be doing my do diligence to search this site to figure out what is needed to make the ty better. I did note alot has been upgraded already but I will be doing a top to bottom check before I really feel confident in it's reliabilty. I am not a big "poster" rather "lurking" and reading. SOOO.. alot of reading to be done to get me up to speed !

:cheers:Welcome to the club my friend. ...next time I'm in Chicago I'll let ya know....I've thought about driving the Ty to Chicago but I hate the mileage and taking the coil wire off the distributor gets old after a while... but anyways enjoy the truck and be a pioneer with it if you mod it any....remember to go nowhere follow the crowd .....imo.....

Atkonkler- we share the same occupation. As far as mods, have to figure out what was done first then go from there. Always trying to be a pioneer or go off the path untraveled. I think I had the first fuel injected stroked Yamaha Banshee (570cc) back in 1989 . Put a rz350 in a rz350 frame back in the day. Or a polini motor in a go quad . How about a Blaster with yz400 motor? Or a waveblaster with an 1100cc gp motor. Have many more creations......can't seem to let them go,there like your kids.

Nice! I don't have a ty anymore, but still have my Camaro and GN. Lots of good cruise nights in the area. Plainfield, lemont and downers Grove. Hopefully you can make it out to a few this summer

Re: New Ty owner- Chicago area

Yes meant to take part in the local cruise nights ,had family health problems that took precedent. Have gone with my friend in his '72 mustang BUT this year things hopefully turned around. Can't say for sure I'll get the Ty where I want it to be in a month or two but hopefully I'll get the stroker motor with OD transmission in the 1st gen camaro and have that completed in the next few monthes. And yes for you purist I am keeping the 'glide and oem motor if I ever want to put it back to stock or sell it(which will never happen)!

IpHoOnDyou,

I'm use to not having any money! Seems like everyone elso, can't leave anytinhg stock, always trying something new or different. Every time I look at the truck I see money streaming out of my pocket. BUT as they say you can't take with you!
