Re: Newbie check-in w/ Syclone #1770

its been a while, but I dont think those are stock injectors.

What the hell is this thing?
It's a sender of some sort, cant really tell what its going to, but the fuel rail port is still capped so odds are it not fuel pressure.

And this?
your last picture is an ATR manual boost controller

When you have 30k into a broken POS, you'll understand.

I know exactly what you mean. I don't come from a racing or go-fast background, but I do manage a shop and have a history in offroading and rockcrawling. I'm used to breaking and fixing something every weekend.

I also got into this one right, so I can afford to spend a little money on it. Just need a little direction from you guys who have been there and done that

Ok yeah I hear that.Pulling 2g's off the line is badass. It's gonna cost 10 grand for motor/fuel system/turbo 6 grand for trans/controller oh and another 5 grand for the electronics to control it all.

That's just the first part.

Ha. If I was going to spend that much on this little money pit, why wouldn't I just go with a turbo'd LS motor and 4L80e and be money ahead?

Definitely not stock injectors. It looks like an ATR external wastegate and manual boost controller. The one part I have no idea.

The picture with the black sensor looking thing with the two wires is a pressure switch. What is it threaded into?

Screws directly into the intake manifold.

its possible that its wired to an electronic boost gauge (not typically whats recommended), is there an aftermarket boost gauge in the truck?

if thats what it goes to, you should pull that out while youre at it and run a mechanical boost gauge, I think everyone will agree they are more accurate.

Have you figured out what the wires go to from the pressure switch?

The switch definitely threads into the intake manifold and the wires go to a relay on the driver apron. From the relay they go to a green light that was inside the cab (I pulled it back through the firewall because I had no clue what it was) and a larger black wire goes under the cab. Haven't had a chance to trace it any farther than that.3

*edit* I had a buddy riding with me one night before the engine crapped out and he said that there was a green light that appeared to come on at WOT. I assume that was the light I am describing. What the hell could it be for?

Re: Newbie check-in w/ Syclone #1770

Got a minute to do a little more digging and it looks like the wire coming out of the relay goes all the way back to the top of the fuel tank. Looks like the truck has the ATR dual fuel pumps in it. The question is are they worth leaving in there or should I look at replacing them as well?

it's been my understanding that dual pumps can be a bad thing. Im sure there could be arguments on both sides, but here is what I've been told.

On a single pump system, if the pump fails or stops working, so does the engine. Typically less of a chance for it to run lean when you dont want it to happen.

On a dual pump system, you are utilizing both pumps to achieve your fuel needs, if one pump fails, the other pump still may seem like its providing enough fuel, except when you really need it, and thus a high risk of running lean and destroying the engine.

Again, im sure people argued this to death back in the day, this is just the info that Ive always heard.

Those arent stock rockers (roller tip and roller body, right?) are you running lb4 or l-35 heads?

Do you know if it has a cam in it? ---

Re: Newbie check-in w/ Syclone #1770

Seems like that switch is for your fuel system the only thing is that switch is not adjustable like the description says. That type of switch is preset to a certain pressure. I guess unless your using that pump setup get rid of it.
