Re: newbie from Rhode Island

generally im more interested about learning about the chassis more than the engine swap.

these chassis and front axle assemblies are what id really like to learn about and how to strengthen them up and all that jazz.

im already part of LS1tech.com and s10forum.com and camaroz28.com so ive got my stuff straight on engines and stuff.

haha im already addicted to reading these forums... they are packed full of some good info.

ill keep an eye out for ya. im beginning to hate that forum. after joining here with "adults," all the BS that goes on there is really lame. i guess when you grow up, you sell your bagged dime, and buy a Sy/Ty.

Haha :rotf: gettin tired of all the highschool kids with rich parent's and a bagged S10? That is why I'm hardly ever on S10 forum aside from the V8 area...

I really just dont understand the whole " let's lower our truck so much it touches the ground and makes sparks fly everywhere" thing.

Welcome. I can try to help ya with questions you have about LSx swap, but the only thing is that mine is in a sonoma-gt so it is RWD as opposed to AWD that you are lookin at.

If you want, here is my thread when I did my LS1 swap, should give you an Idea of all the fun stuff" involved. http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=38502&highlight=ls1

Re: newbie from Rhode Island

im pretty sure the LS2 pan will clear a 4x4 crossmember because of the higher motor mounting points but im not positive.

if there is any problems with clearance ill jus raise till it doesnt hit anymore lol

another problem im thinkin about is... does the LS style transmission bolt up to the old style bravada transfer case? im thinking because its cheaper to get a new trans then to rebuild the old 4l60e to hold a V8.

Heh, yea just don't raise the motor too high. Low center of gravity is good and I've seen people have problems with raising the motor too much. A guy on S10 forum with an LS1 S10 raised the motor so the alternator would clear the s10 steering box rather than relocating the alternator. He was having all kinds of hood clearance problems and as far as I know he still hasn't finished the air intake tubing because of a lack of space.

Also, just incase.... turbotime makes LSx swap pans for sy/ty's

I'm not sure about the bolt patterns ....I'd contact someone here http://www.turbols6.com/gallery/ and see what they did.
