Newbie question....

I just bought my ty last week, and am new to these trucks. It has some perf. upgrades (turbo, I/C etc.). I want to check out at my MAP sensor and chip, but I'm not sure where that is located? I don't know if those are stock or upgraded, and I want to upgrade if they aren't already.
Can someone steer me in the right direction here. Thanks!

the map sensor is on the dr side on the same braket as the egr solinoid
looks like a plastic rectangle with a vac line and a wheter pack connecter chip is in the ecm pass side next to heater core box

yeah dont it!

I will never understand how anyone can expect to work on anything without a service manual...

Not trying to work on anything yet Ed, just trying to get a better understanding of the basics. Thanks for your help...

to get a better understanding of the basics is exactly why you want the manual.

Imagine trying to get the basics of math, trig, or geometry without the book?

Maybe he doesn't own all three of the original service manuals and therefore is not allowed to legally purchase the service manual CD according to the terms.

you can ask a lawyer but i doubt this has any meaning anymore since the company that printed them no longer has them available to sell.

Anyone reading this without the manual should just go get the cd from opie (not his real name anyway, so he can hide for legal purposes j/k :) ) and get yourself educated the easy way.

You're right Tookycat, I've owned the truck just over a week now, and I haven't had a chance to buy the 3 original manuals yet. Being that I'm a Federal Law Enforcement Officer, I think it might be kinda hypocritical to get the CD version illegally. I guess if the orig. manuals are now longer available though, I may have no choice.

Actually they are still available according to Helm's Website "In stock" : http://www.helminc.com/helm/Result....el=SYCL&Year=1991&Category=&Keyword=&Module=&

Anyways I really can't say my personal opinion on software pirating / document copying, etc. I guess what it boils down to is taking someone's copyrighted material and copying it and selling it for a profit. Whether that's right or wrong I can't offer my opinion; I was really just bringing this topic up to give Ed a hard time because he won't drive more than 5 MPH over the speed limit ever but he will recommend pirating literature  I'm just teasin..

PS: The reason this is a sore spot for me is cause I used to be a software author, and it really annoyed me when people had the attitude they had a "right" to get my software for free when my normal customers paid good money for it. But that's really off topic, if someone wants to discuss software piracy please email or AIM me 8)

Now look carefully....just to the right of the two brass fittings, and just below the black hose.... thats where the map sensor sits.

here is a pic of the sensor removed from its bracket.
