Nitrous question, '92 Typhoon

Nitrous is more pain than it is worth. 50 HP would be pushing it, plus a wet shot or even a fogged setup would blow the engine. You would have to tune this puny little shot almost to the point of its being useless, and there's still a chance you could screw up the engine.

My opinion, save the money and get a nice alky injection or something.

According to NOS and a Syclone owner with NOS kit 05208, it's perfectly fine and SAFE to run this kit. This is the kit that i ordered. It's only one jet and easy to install according to them. It provides 50-60hp.

listen to what the guys who have been around for awhile say, thats the reason that they have been around.....because they know their shit. they say its not worth it. i commend you for wanting to be a poineer in trying new systems on our trucks, but dont come cryin to the board when things go wrong.

I have looked at this some, and I thought we could use kit #05151, which is the GM TPI kit. It has a plate that bolts up between the throttle body and the intake. The only hang up I see is it makes the throttle body stick out farther, which may interfere with intercooler alignment. Some one else may know more??

Thx Brad

Good luck with nitrous on a Syty, you will NEED it.

I helped tune a Ty with nitrous. Boost was out of control, knock retard was out of control. It was running an external wastegate, high octane race gas, and a small shot.

I don't like the stuff on a Syty, just my $0.02.

Might take notice that only the newbies keep asking about NOS on a Syty as well...

We are not knocking you stanly. I for one have CANCELLED my order due to the recent discussion on this topic. I was just stating the correct part number from NOS to use on our trucks.

Anyone ever tried a progressive controller, I would think that adding 5-10hp shots in small increments would solve the boost and knock problem. Just an idea, I'm not endorsing nitrous, but I'd like to find out if anyones really tired to make this work.

Progressive controller, port injection, good chip, and a good wastegate might work, starting to sound a little spendy though, might be better off with a set of Vortecs and PTE or maybe Vortecs, PTE and Nitrous.

a progressive controller is in the works for my setup, but then again so is a lot of other crap. It would help but then again if I would take the plunge and go speedpro/FAST all of this would be much easier.

I have the NOS in my truck but have not used it yet on my new motor. Can someone tell me more about the "alky" injection and what performance gains you can expect to see, the difficulty in installing it as well as the cost.

Thank you,

Tom

to run nos you have to have the 3bar setup and an afpr. As long as you run it rich you should be alright. The turbo doubles theshot so all that you would want to run is a 50 shot. When you hit the button your truck will boost 17 or 18 lbs. It takes quite a bit of tunig by the right people to get it right.

how are you going to keep it at only going 17 to 18 psi? this should be interesting.

what if you had a switch hooked to the nos solenoids that turned them on and off with boost pressure, have it come on at 14lbs and shut the nos off if the boost goes above , lets say 17lbs? just rammbling jack

or have it come on at 11 lbs with the progressive controller and shut off at around 17-18. I have never known anybody that has run nos with a turbo, but i love it on my 99ss, 150 wetshot. So anybody on here that has it or tried it on the syty, does it make your boost level jump up as soon as you engage the nos , where its uncontrollable? So if you driving the sy and you nailed the gas and you were at 10lbs of boost and then hit the nos would you shoot up to 18lbs or something?

No offense but I would take mechanical tips lightly from people who refer to nitrous as NOS. They seem to have that Hollywood gleam in their eyes.

i refer to it as N.O.S., been using it for about 12 years on various different cars and had good success with it.

you would be spraying for less than a second if that. but in my syclone, id stomp on the gas and it would go from -18-+21 instally. no lag or anything.
