Just so you guys know - it is fun to caravan with the Klinger Posse. They make good time unless they have a Typhoon with no Turbo-IC hose following :) I met up with them on the KC turnpike going to Great Bend last year.

Sounds like it is going to be a few trucks coming in from the Northeast - should be a good time. I don't know if you guys have looked at the registration list on www.sytynationals.com but it might be another way to get in touch with people. If you don't know them - maybe Marty or Opie can hook you up with an e-mail addy.

Have fun and see ya in Chicago.

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH I Wish I could go soooooooooo bad!!!!

Let me know when you guys are meeting in Rockaway Mall, I'd like to at least shoot over and check out the rides before you all embark (Rockaway's like 15 minutes from home). Mike, Nick, or whoever, let me know when you'll be there.

There had BETTER be a caravan next year, I guarantee me and my Typhoon will be there (shit, by then my truck should be well on its way performance and aesthetic-wise)

Talk to you cats soon,

Thanks for the input Dave! It was great to have you jump in with us last year. (I guess you'll have a shorter drive this year.)

If nothing else, I recommend that everyone caravanning have a 2-way radio - Motorola Talkabout or the like. If everyone's on the same frequency, folks can let each other know about gas/potty stops, and it helps navigate high-congestion traffic safer ("jump in front of me..."), and also makes for some entertainment during "slow periods" of nothing else interesting - we played Jeopardy on the way home in '98 - Bob Galla's wife had their laptop and hosted. It's also great if someone has trouble and you need to pull the caravan off the road without running into each other. (When the road is empty, doing synchronized lane changes is kinda fun too...) :D

FYI - my info, plus my brother's:

Aaron Klinger
'92 Typhoon (pearl/grey for sale)
610.678.0243 home
610.223.7445 cell

Mark Klinger
'92 Typhoon (Dad's black/grey)

Both from Reading PA

And a reminder for those of you (us) still putting work into their trucks... it'll be here before you know it!

Well I don't think I will be leading the pack this year of the eastern caravan going to the nats. I don't even think I will have my truck this year. My engine won't be done for at leaste 2-3 more weeks, and then it has to get put back in and tunned. I'm still deciding on wether I'm going at all this year, it just won't be the same without my Ty. Just some info,
Lata,
Nick

If it was that simple it would be done. The engine that I was suppose to get was a complete long block, without the upper and lower intake. What I got was a block with piston, rods, and a crank, and nothing else. Also, the engine looked like it had been left outside or in the cornor of a shop uncover, without the oil pan on, or without the heads on. It is also covered with saw dust and it's all inside the engine. My mechanic doesn't want to touch this engine without it getting pulled apart and at leaste freshened and put back together. So, now I'm back to square one, with one month left to the nats. After killing a month waiting for this THING I haven't gotten anything accomplished. So the engine is going to an engine builder down in CT that Pete and Ed had there engines done by. I think I'm going to take my time and build this one the right way. Thats my story, maybe someone can give me a ride to the nats this year, and next year I'll repay the favor. Any takers?? I'm a good co-pilot, and I will chip in for gas??? Thanks guys, ttyl,
Peace,
Nick

that sucks man. sorry to hear you got hosed on your motor. Well, if your not bringing your truck, hows Eric getting out there? Do we have to find spots for both of you? We should get that figured out soon too.

Ok now that I've setteled down and figured out whats going on I can stop my complaining and get this thing fixed. As of right now I think I'll be getting a rebuild long block from Al D. So I will keep everyone posted on how that goes, if all goes as planned the truck will be running in about 2 weeks or so. Lata,

Here's the deal,

Nick: If I get the friggin issues w/ the Sy worked out, you know you can co-pilot. I will be rolling down to Ed's saturday (if I don't melt through 3 plug wires again and the Staties leave me alone) and try and figure out:
1). The ignition gremlin- as soon as I get into ANY boost, 3 cylinders shut
down, then when I am not in boost, they fire again
2). The loud metal banging againts metal sound eminating from the front
end.
3). Replacing 1 front axel.

If i can't, it looks like we'll be taking the 'Bru. I'll keep you updated.

Nick, sorry you were disappointed with the FREE engine i sent to you , and where did you guys come up with " i was suppose to get an entire long block?" I certainly wish i did not send it now, WHAT a waist of my time , building a crate, dealing with the shipping, I mean what did you guys think , you were getting a complete sy motor for the cost of shipping, i told peter and you it did not have heads and was not complete, why do think i was willing to give the short block and all the other stock parts to you or peter when i drove up to the nats in my fullsize with everything in the bed. So lets say i pull up to the nats and i have all these parts in the bed of my truck and i say go ahead and take everything and you see the motor is not complete or looks dirty , you say no i dont want , i would say fine and offer to someone else or throw away as i was going to do originally, that short block was already in the dunpster but my brother said hang on to it, so i said fine. You know, when peter called me and said you hurt your motor and would i send this motor up , and i agreed for just shipping , i was certainly under the impression you guys just needed a block, of course it does not have a oil pan, mcCoy requires that when you buy a super motor from him and the valve covers, and please tell me why you guys would think i have a spare set of ac and alt. brackets. Did you guys ever ask me if this motor was just ready to drop right in and start up? why do think i was willing to give all these parts for free, they might need some work, i dont know or care 1 bit about those parts, but stupid me thought maybe some one would appreciate them, especially for free.

Nick , could you tell me why you would need a complete long block ready to drop in if you have a ty with all the parts, just curious, and after reading some of the peoples posts, i am sure they have not been told the facts. Jeeezzzz i am done with this bullshitt!!!!

Jack, from what I understood when we all talked about this in FL was that you had just about a complete motor, except a few parts that you needed for your truck when you got your McCoy motor. I thought that you were going to give these parts to Pete has a favor to him for doing a favor for you. This is the reason that I thought I was getting a almost complete motor, and the only thing I would have to do would be to bolt on a few things and I would be all set. We probably didn't get the right answers to any of these questions because we both only talked to you one time when we were trying to get this engine off of you. Also, if you had told me it was going to be filled with saw dust, and totoally open the whole time it was sitting, things would of been a different story. Would you put a motor in your truck that had all shit in it, and maybe you could clean everything all out. Think about this now, how would a motor help me that the only thing that I really needed out of it was a piston?? Why would I want something that I had to totally take apart and rebuild, after waiting a month for it? I'm done with this topic, if you have anything else to say to either me or Pete you can call us, e-mail us, or PM us. I'm not going to take up any more bandwith with this. Thanks for trying, but I guess that everyone was mistaken.
Nick

Nick, if you only needed a piston , why did you guys even bother me???? Your done with this topic, what a fucking joke, try to help someone out and this how you repay me , not even a thank you and no matter what saw dust was in or dust from sitting in my shop the fact remains this motor would have needed to been gone over and been rebuilt no matter what, i beat the shit out it and the 2 people that owned the truck before me beat the shit out of it ,i am sure of that so it stands to reason that the motor would need attention, remember i was giving this stuff away? FREE. If you guys were hoping for a brand new motor or complete , last i checked i payed 9000.00 for a longblock from mcCoy. Nick and peter , needless to say i am very disappointed with this whole ordeal, and thanks for helping me tune my truck some peter, i unlike some people appreciate help.

Nick, one more thing, you say why would i want something if i have take it apart, dam thats harsh nick, something given to you for the price of shipping and i was going to bring the other stock parts with me at the nats , probably not anymore why waist my time and effort??

guys, from what I just read, i definately dont know all the facts, but I can see there was definately a miscommunication somewhere along the lines.
I dont see any need for this discussion to continue here, so please take it to PMs, IMs or e-mail.
I will remove any further posts which deface either partys character.

Bottom line is the short block or motor was free. except for shipping which cost 219.00 Which i did not want to ship in the first place, just bring with me to the nats, so i dont think there was any miscommunication, i told nick and peter this and i had all the parts to put a engine back together minus the intake and ac brackets, not many people have spare ac and syty intakes laying around. Like i told peter i have a ton of stock parts for a sy, 2 intercoolers , suspension parts driveshafts , tons of stuff that i was going to load in my truck and give it all to you guys, no questions asked, but then something like this happens, go figure, i am the bad guy right, and waiting a month for it , well i told you remember funeral to attend , running a company , time is not something i have to be building crates for motors i am giving away. I am done with this .
