no boost

well, after installing a boost gauge, i've been getting a max boost pressure of 10psi, or 0.8bar. while the stock boost should be able to hit 14.7 or so, correct? i kindda knew the ty was running sluggish. i'll put on datamaster later.

as of now, does anyone know what could cause a lack of boost? one friend suggested wastegate. any other suggestions?

much thanks, MikeC

I am teh kingpin!
not the wg, but the solinoid itself. its the little black "thingy" on the mounted on the turbo with vacuum lines running out of it.

hey thanks for the picture...

this weekend i'm gonna try to swap it out w/ another one.

is this typical? do other ppl have problems w/ the Wastegate soilenoid crapping out? should i just buy a stock one if i replace it?

thanks!!

Mike,
Look real close at the vac lines and rubber elbows, they can have a small crack and you might not even notice it.
Also I would check to make sure you are getting voltage.

Just get a new stock one if it turns out you need one.

If you refer to the picture, although you can't really see.... on the right side there are two vac ports. Don't put anything on the one with the metal clip attached to it, it is the vent and originally had a foam cap over it, so leave that one open.

Another thing that's been mentioned (even in the GM checklist)... Make sure the elbow in the vaccuum line isn't bottomed out onto the connector. If the back of the elbow is resting on the connector, it could actually cut off the vaccuum, and make it not work. Just another simple thing to check for...
