Noobie in Missouri

Been lurking around here for several weeks and have found a wealth of information since buying my first Syclone. I've wanted a Syclone for several years and never seemed to find one, but I finally found an unmolested truck last month and bit the bullet. I figured it was a perfect platform to start modding. I look forward to getting into the Syty community and modding my new truck.:D

These trucks are money pits, headach's, pains in the ass, garage queen little whores who demand more attention than Lindsey Lohan! Enjoy your truck an again welcome to a worse addiction than watchn porn or smokin cigs

Welcome man....I live just West of St. Louis, and there's another member on here I've ran into recently (selling aluminum 4.3 heads on CL if you need them, look them up) and he's in St Peters area. So there's a small hand full of us from from the area...As well, yes, I have come across some quite knowledgeable gear heads on here, if you have a question, scour around for the subject at hand, if nothing, start a new topic, and you'll get answers you seek!...

Welcome to the board! Why buy an unmolesed Sy and mod it? With all the modded trucks out there the stock ones are becoming more rare and more desirable. I wish I left mine alone, now I've got a money pit, garage queen that I'm afraid to drive.

I think a stock truck is a great place to start ... UNLESS you plan on replacing EVERYTHING on a modded truck that the previous owner did (and didnt tell you about).

You are in St. James? Not quite sure where that is, but I am in St. Louis ... welcome!!! ---

Welcome!

I am just west of St Louis, St James is further west out 44 I believe.

If you aren't much of a mechanic a modded SyTy can be handful.

Re: Noobie in Missouri

Thanks guys, it's good to know that there are other people that can't leave well enough alone either. I just sold my last headache, which was a twin screwed 03 Cobra, so I'm no stranger to pita garage queens. I'm not too sure what I'm going to do to the truck, I just knew that I didn't want to start out with someone else headache and that's why I wanted to get a stock truck. It came from a 71 year old insurance agent who was the second owner and had been for the last 16 years. I agree that there might be value in leaving it stock, but I enjoy bending wrenches and I wouldn't mind trying my luck at doing a little programming with Code 59 if I can build the courage up to do it. Besides, as everyone knows, there is no such thing as fast enough...:)

Did you buy the Syclone in Neosho or the one in Springfield or did it come from someplace else?

Re: Noobie in Missouri

Do your self a favor and make friends with a local syty owner that knows how to tune these trucks because the tune in these trucks don't learn a take well to mods like the mustangs do and your norm speed shop don't always know how to work on these trucks let alone properly tune em.

Stock internals aren't as forgiving as stock fox's are neither so tune is crucial for both performance an longevity.

GooD luck and enjoy the awd torque these truck can produce

Thanks, I'd like to hook up with someone local who was good with tuning these trucks, but if worse comes to worse, I might try it myself or just buy a chip for it and live with it. I already bought an extra motor just in case I need to build a beefier bottom end, but hopefully that won't be needed for awhile..

Re: Noobie in Missouri

I don't know anything about it; I just remember there was one for sale in Springfield a few months ago.

That's the one, he was a super good guy and I could tell he was sick about getting rid of it, but he was selling it to pay for the sales tax on his retirement RV.
