North Fl Tyclone

Re: North Fl Tyclone

Here are the rims installed. The truck has typhoon stickers that I installed yesterday. I have ordered new torsion bar keys for the front, as the stock '89 4x4 keys will not go any lower. The front of the truck needs to drop about another inch. I did move the computer to the glove box today, and finally got it out of the floorboard. I also removed the pinion wedge blocks that were in the rear to give a good 5 degree angle on both the transfer case output and rear diff. input. This seems to have gotten rid of the vibration that I was feeling at cruise. Also today, I got the corner cladding mounting kit from Sportmachines, and I will install the rear corners tomorrow.

Looks real good in silver! Why the hell were these trucks not originally offered in silver?

Hmmm. Who did you talk to that suggested checking the u-joint angles? :D

5º seems like a lot. Are you sure it's that much? Only reason I ask is maybe there's something else in play with the clone we haven't figured out yet. But if the vibration is gone, and yer happy, then I guess its OK for stock power levels for a weekend-only car. 5º will wear u-joints fairly quickly.

You didn't check the angles on your lift with the rear axle hanging, did you? That would give you 5º!

Truck looka great Randy. I really like the silver as well. Any pictures of the front end? Have you played with the carpet yet?

Yes, it was Dave to the rescue again. I did check the angles on the ground, and with the existing angle block on the axle, the rear was 10 degrees and the front was 5. Removing the rear angle block brought them both down to about 5, but I will recheck it again. The angle gauge does not have much resolution, and my bad eyes have a hard time reading the small tick marks.

Thanks again, Dave

Re: North Fl Tyclone

I got the rear corners installed this morning, and I think I am done with the body work. Huge thanks to Tom at Sportmachines for sending me a template to install the cladding cups on the rear corners. That is customer service. I think it turned out good.

This is the rear corner that was trashed. The repair turned out nice.

Re: North Fl Tyclone

I found this gem at pick and pull today and it was $6. I almost couldn't believe it when I saw it. An unbroken center console lid with a good hinge, and the latch even works good. I think the color is even right. It came out of a '92 blazer, and seem to fit like a gem. The beer is only there for proper sizing while viewing the picture ;):
