i haven't looked into uhaul's yet.. i was hoping it'd be cheaper than that :(

it looks like this trip will be more expensive than my trip to St. Maarten.. wtf is wrong with me, why am I doing this!?

cause you dont trust your truck to make it under its own power :rotf:

I do, i just don't trust the suspension making the trip.. it bottoms out so much its not really fun to drive on shitty roads.. my truck runs great, i'd have no problems driving it out there, i wouldn't race it while there..

this way i can throw it on the dyno and run it at the track

Re: Northeast Caravan

FWIW, in 2004 we left Baltimore around 3pm Wed, drove straight through, got to the hotel at 6am local, first ones there. Or maybe it was last year. Whatever, you get the point. This was trailering at ~75mph where possible. (The WV mountains killed us, struggled for 55 a few times.) Leaving after the awards ceremony and driving straight through got us to Baltimore just before 6am Monday. The 8.1 should struggle less than our 5.3, so you'll probably make a little better time and mpg than us.

Yahoo maps has our trip at 1100 miles (from Bob's house), 15.5 hrs.

NJ is obviously farther, YMMV.

Is the front or rear bottoming out? Imagine it has to be the shocks or springs/torsion bars, maybe the rubber limiters are broken.

Re: Northeast Caravan

I almost guarantee it's the backend bottoming out on Smaug's truck. His leaf springs are real weak and he probably hasn't had time to swap the ones in that I sold him awhile back. Mine will definitely take care of the bottoming out issue.

correct it is the rear, I might swap out the leafs before nats.. it bottoms out so bad it dented two of my rims.. speaking of which i need to get replacements as well :(

I just booked a hotel room - for the first time i'll be sleeping in a bed at nats :woot:

anyone wanting to bunk up in the room let me know for a very nominal Fee.

Morgan, you can stay for free in my bathtub....as long as you promise to boot up your laptop at 7am w/ the sound up all the way.

still need to find a car trailer though.

I rented a 20' enclosed from a place outside of lancaster Pa for $65 a day. Check your local trailer dealers and see if they rent them. You could probably get away with a 18 footer.

Re: Northeast Caravan

I am tying up some loose ends to make sure I can. I just need to book a room. Hopefully the Ty can make the 1100 mile trip. If not I have AAA. I was going to tow it but I can't take the family truckster for 5 daysand leave the wife and kids with nothing. Did you find a trailer yet? I checked with that place for myself and it is $175+ tax for a week rental on an 18 foot open. Not too bad.

Nice. Not sure exactly what our schedule will be but Dad and I will be in his Ty (no trailer), you're welcome to follow us. Bob's not sure if his truck will make it (not sure if I can say why) so we may end up driving to Baltimore to pick him up. If he trailers, we'll probably meet up with him at Breezewood.

We'll probably leave Reading on Wed morning sometime - getting through Columbus before rush hour is goal #1. If that doesn't fit your schedule, the NJ crew will be behind us a few hours. (But it looks like they may be heading out I-80 for a little while - might have to meet them out Bedford/Pitt area.)

That's today's 411...

what about baythan. tommyquest, mad mike, caviaross....or the NY peeps.

I was considering but we go on a cruise starting the 26th for a week and we just bought a new 33 foot travel trailer so money is a little tight. Would have been much more fun driving out in the charger then the syclone. Maybe next year.
