Norway

I'm from Norway.. But I live further south.. about 500 km. According to Norways biggest US Car register (AmCar), there are only 11 Ty's, and 30 Sy's in Norway. There are two Ty's where I live. Not a very popular car due to high gas prices and part availability.

Right now, I'm staying in Canda for a few weeks. Lots of nice cars here!

30 Sy in Norway, that sounds unbelivable???

I was just wondering if anyone needed any parts of reasonable
size and weight, I could bring them with me when I come to Norway
in late June.

Re: Norway

I had a Sy (#2531) for some years, I'm living in Oppland/Gjøvik. Sold to a guy up in Kristiansund in 2001 I think.

I've also met some of the SY/TY owners in Norway, but I don't think it's as many as 30.. But I might be wrong. Got in contact with some of them at syty.org, the mailinglist. Missing my SY, but got a Tahoe for replacement ;P

Btw.. anyone interested in a A-pillar, with 3 Autometer gauges in?
It's: Fuel Pressure, Turbo boost and Tranny temp. All sold unused, with all cabeling/hoses.

Have a look at http://www.svidd.net/autometer for pictures!

On the norway topic.

Can someone give pros, cons about Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and living there -vs- US?

Re: Norway

Wanna move here? ;)

I've turned my brain, and here are some pro/con's for living i Norway.

Cons: Expensive Gas ($1.6) for a litre, but lots of oil ;), expensive cars (I paid $32500 for my Sy incl. taxes etc, imported from US).

Pro: Free medical care (or we do at least like to think so), democracy, beautiful country/nature, 5 weeks vacation (6 if you are over 60 years), low criminal rate,

umm.. Late night, my brain working slow.. But check out these links, they might be useful: Norway.no and Norway.com

Well.. good night :)

PS: Nobody got a maintenance manual for 1997 Tahoe, showing the ventilation-system? Got a leakage in passenger well when it rains.. ;P

Re: Norway

When would be the best time of year to visit Norway? Anywhere I could hop a Ryanair flight from Frankfurt Hahn?

Hi SyGoat

Depends if you like skiing or summertime activites? Personally I like summer best, but winter is also nice! (Lillehammer Olympic Games in 1994 was great)

If you are going here in summer, you should visit a place called Geiranger (http://www.geiranger.no/), or take a trip with the Costal Express (http://www.hurtigruten.com).

Regarding flights, I think you can fly from Frankfurt to Oslo.. And then go anywhere you'd like.. Hurtigruten departs from Bergen and you can go on a roundtrip to Kirkenes (russian border) and back to Bergen. Or fly to Kirkenes and then board hurtigruten back to Bergen, This is a very nice trip, tried it 3 years ago myself!

I'll look around and start planning something...but I'd love to come during the Summertime to see lighthouses. Should I plan for a long weekend or week long adventure?

Ive got a similar situation on my 96 and will be digging into it to try to find the source shortly. If you find anything post it or PM me and I'll do the same if I find something sooner.

Hi again.. I'd planned for a week long trip, cause if you go for a weekend, it's to short time to see it all..

Takes time to adjust and settle in.

Hey Typhoonman, I had to write when I saw where you are located, I have a
cousin that lives in Mo i Rana. Tell me a little bit about your truck, where did you get
it, how long have you had it, any problems keeping it running right? Also wondering
if there are any other Sy or Ty's up in your area.
