Well I go into the garage and I look in ty, and what do I see? Somehow mice got in it, and chewed up the headliner and ade a huge mess...  . So I put a few traps in the ty, and left the cats in the garage, hopefully I will see some dead mice soon.

i feel for you, i hate mice. i had them make a nest in the air box of my snowmobile once, talk about a mess, hit the key and spent the next 4 hours trying to get compressed mice and mouse droppings out of my cylinders. now i put like 12 moth balls in one of my old ladies nylons and throw about 10 nylons full of moth ball around the garage , under shelfs and in corners twice a year. keeps the little f***ers outta there. and then i hang one from each corner of my 59 when its on jack stands all winter. sorry to hear about your ty.

ya, I have seen them go into the exhaust of a sled, and pack the cylinders with stuff, wouldn't even pull over. I seen some kind of thing you plug into the wall and it send a high pitch sound out, I guess, and keeps mice away. Not sure if it works, might buy one and try it though.

You should be careful when cleaning up from a mouse nest. I was told by the exterminator that comes around work, that you should wear a mask. Something in their crap/urine that can make humans very sick and maybe death.I keep those sticky traps in the garage put them against the walls or in corners. They work great. Better than cats or snap traps. The bad part is they catch them alive and you have to kill them.

I hate those things. The bastards chew up my wires. I keep lots of poison in and around my truck.

I heard that too. I read a while ago that a guy died from breathing in mice crap that turned to dust in a warehouse. Toxic stuff. That's why my mom is insistent on wiping off the top of a soda can before you drink it.

I've had one in my truck engine compartment. That was fun to get out, right under the upper IC. Mech fingers worked good. :) Then I had a nest in my jetski. Even with all the gas smell etc they still get in there. I got most of it out, but luckily my piston blew and I had to pull the engine. That helped with the clean up, there was much more room.

Good tips on keeping mice away! Thanks

mice are small rats, they dont like anything unless its laying on the floor and smells and taste like st*t........ the nice thing is either bounce or moth ball makes the garage smell like your working on your truck in your closet.......lol

Yes it can. Hantaviruse is the name of it. Just watch the stick traps they can be a bigger mess than they are worth. Mice will chew off limbs to get free! Leaving a nice bloody trail and and awful rottening flesh smell if you don't find it.

Best traps to use are the snap traps. Either the old-fashioned wood ones (disposable) or the new plastic ones that can be re-used.

Sticky traps are a mess and have the potential of catching non-target animals (I once caught an aligator lizard in a sticky roach trap...not fun cleaning the lizard off). Plus, I think they're just a bit cruel.

Poison bait is extremely toxic stuff and can also harm non-target animals, plus should not be used around kids. The mouse will inevitably die inside your wall where you can't get to it and it will stink to high heaven for WEEKS. The poison bait is just all around bad stuff.

If you have to clean up mouse crap, spray it down and wear a mask.

This is partial true, but the poision used in mouse bait, usually Bromadiolone 0.005%,is a put out in doses according to body mass. Highly unlikely to kill a dog, cat, or a Kid. Since a mouse weighs merely ounces and there is a easy antidote availiable to any good vet or emergency room of a vitamin K shot.

The bait works by causing massive internal bleeding in the mouse. Which leads to rapid decomposition of the mouse and no smell. Most of the time all you find is a ball fur if you find anything.

Snap traps are good for sensitive areas, Food Handling, Restraunts, Schools, etc., but baiting is better in most cases. Of course you should always consult a professional.
