Now i think its my wastegate, someone plz help me

for 2 weeks i have had the problem of my truck cutting out and loosing all boost above 40% throttle. i replaced my ecm, and memcal which is what i thought was broken but it didnt help. i noticed today that when my problem occours i can hear what sounds to be air rushing by something on the pasenger side. as soon as i let my foot out i can hear the air rushing stop and then the truck starts going again like normal. i tried taking the vac lines off to the wastegate solenoid but still had the problem. does this sound like it could be a wastegate not holding or something?? i am at my wits end with my ty. :evil: :evil: :evil:

IF you took off the vac lines to the solenoid you had uncontrolled boost and hit the fuel cut.

Do you have a boost gauge installed? No not the stock piece of shit....

How did you determine the ECM and chip was bad? Wild guess?

If you'd like a wild guess I'd say your low on downpipe grease. Refill it and testdrive. It is available at most Autozones.

im using an aftermarket boost gauge. its not even hitting 12 psi before it cuts out. with a scanner i read when i have my problem that it is cutting out all of my spark advance, but i have no kr. my spark advance says 30* when my problem happens. i figured since the memcal controls timing that it must have gone bad. i dont know what else to check and or fix. sorry bout the first post it was a little undescriptive.

is your serv eng light comin on? do you have any codes? are there any other symptoms?

no trouble codes, no nothing, it just does it. i recently moved my ecm to my glovebox. is there any reason that it might be my problem? sorry if it sounds like im shooting in the dark but i have checked so many things i dont know what it could be.

sounds like an intake leak. possibly making noise due to the boost escaping and causing a lean condition in the motor which will cause it to pop. check all your vacuum lines/hoses and your intercooler hose. you can do this with the bicycle pump method.

Be sure your turbo to I/C and I/C to TB lines are tight! I drove my typhoon for a long time with only 12 psi. I figurd it was just the old turbo. One day under the hood I noticed a suit trail on the TB where boost had been blowing by. I tightened it with a different kind of clamp, and it boosted perfect. I also used to blow my turbo to IC Hose, but it is really noticeable, you will only get ilke 3-4 psi boost if that.

if it was a vac leak would it cause the truck to go completly flat when the problem accoured? ive almost ran out of things i can check and i think im gonna take it to a shop soon..... you know what that means :drinking:

i just converted the truck over to open valve covers, so i took the vac line that went to the side of the throttle body and plugged it. if this was the leak would it cause a problem like this?

you mean you removed the pcv valves and installed breathers in the valve covers? doubtful it would cause your problem.

what are your 02 volts when this is happening?

they are right around 950. i did a battery relocation right when this started happening. i redid part of my grounds yesterday and went for a test drive and the problem had almost gone away. there is one more spot where it is iffy. im gonna redo it tommorow and see if it fixes the problem. should there be any extra grounds i should run that might help?
