What are some experiences with octane booster other than xylene? Just curious if any of the other stuff works.

why buy that 104+ shit , when for almost the same price you can get a whole gallon of xylene that is much better???

Think about it, how can a tiny bottle possibly have any type of serious effect on all the fuel in a HUGE 20-gallon truck size gas tank? One good way to go is the Xylene route, buy 5 gallons and combine the 5 gallons with 15 gallons 93 octane in your tank (or use half of each of those ratios to end up with a half full tank) and you'll have about 100 Octane. Think about how huge 5 gallons is. Now compare that to one of those tiny red "104+" bottles. Which is more likely to increase your overall octane by a significant amount?

Yep, octane booster is a waste of money. When a bottle says it will increase octane by 4 to 7 points, it will do just that: increase octane by 0.4 to 0.7. Add a bottle of octane booster to a full tank of 92 octane and you will end up with 92.4 - 92.7 octane.

HI-OCTANE chemical gasoline componets are benzene, toluene, xylene, triptane etc
Makes fuel more dense, increasing miliage potencial
Fully blendable with gasoline
Not corrosive when mixed with gasoline
They are high-octane gasoline molecules
need 10% or greater concetration to have significant affect

yes thas what i want

Can you mix Xylene strait with 93 octane, or do you have to add a type of oil? I heard someone talking about adding lubricator because xylene will dry the engine. Also, where can I buy Xylene?

Well some people have mixed Xylene straight with 93. It's one of those things, without a scientist and controlled testing over time, it would be very hard to tell the effects. But I play it safe and use a lubricating oil, they say to use either ATF or Marvel Mystery Oil, the M.M.O. was about 3 bucks and it is designed to go in your fuel (unlike ATF) so I felt better going with that. I think I use 2 or 4 oz per 5 gallon of Xylene (and 15 gal of 93). The Marvel Mystery Oil is in a red bottle with black label, and the Xylene can be bought at good paint shops like Sherwin-Williams. Expect to pay about 5 or 6 dollars a gallon but it still is cheaper than paying for a tank of 100 octane Unleaded racing fuel.

Toulene can also be used in place of Xylene but I found it had a slightly lower octane rating and it was a bit more expensive, and less popular.

Back in the original Xylene post, I think the person said that the "special lubricants and cleaners" in most octane boosters were just ATF or MMO, and paint thinner. By using Xylene, you really are just making your own octane booster.

As for the other additives, I think that original post called for using 1 or 2 ounces of each when making a gallon (128 ounces) of octane booster. Adding the lubricants probably does help over time, but running one tank of straight Xylene mix (How's that for an oxymoron?) isn't going to kill your engine or anything.

what about 2-stroke oil
i think it wont lower your octane nr
We all know that normal oil lowers the octanes.
i used philips 3 that i have for my Mercury 150 EFI

Up to 30% Xy you should be ok

BTW I would not run more than 30% XY
