OEM cladding

Is there a gel coat or clear coat on the OEM cladding? I bought a piece off ebay that claims to be OEM. it has the grease pencil marks and the date marks but the finish is not what i expected.

the cladding on my truck is all original and not faded. one piece had a scuff and I wanted it perfect. unsure if i just got taken for a ride.

thanks

No Gelcoat on our PUR oem cladding at all. Gelcoat is for flabberglass anyhow..not plastics.
Our cladding is only shot with a single coat of crap semi-flat black over the injected black plastic.

Re: OEM cladding

Wen I get my Ty that probbably what I'm going to do first is get that clading to look good. I might just do a flat grey, I like the flat colors.

Re: OEM cladding

so its a single stage matte black? is it a PPG paint code? now i am kicking myself because i will have to get this one piece to match the others. can you strip the other pieces and repaint them also?

anyone that has done this work I would appreciate a PM as to the right way to do this.

thanks everyone
