Re: Official Racing Classes for Nats X

I will go on record first with my picks for nats:

PURE STOCK: Christina Keller.

She will be out for blood after her red light in 2005 and missing 2006 for child birth. Look for the Keller Klan to be in the mid 13's with their sweet Aspen blue Ty. Of course Sonoma GT's are now eligible to race in Pure Stock. Will any Show? Can they take down their Sy/TY brothern?

STOCK TURBO: Jeremy Duncan

Got to go with myself here sorry. After firing my driver in 2004 after a disappointing runner up finish, I have won Stock Turbo the past 2 years in my Syclone. I will be shooting to run the first 11.xx time for this class at the Nats 2007 and defend my title.

Super Stock: Josh "Tooky" Straub

Won his first Nationals title on a hole shot this year in his Syclone. I look for him to be a major player in this class next year. He ran consistent low 12's, high 11's last year. I look for him to run even faster in 07.

Top Stock: Mike HARDman

You got to have one long shot sleeper in your picks and this is mine! With super tuner Mike Dollbrick on his side look for ET's to really improve. I fully expect mid 11's from Milke's TY. Of course if Denny Raab shows up I reserve my right to change my pick.

Pro Stock: Bully Syclone

Alot of intresting trucks out there in this class, but they for some reason don't show up. I think John and his crew will show to redeem their self from last years disappointment. Are 9's or even 8's possible?

Outlaw: Jeff Scott

The new Conversion class. Ok this kind of a long shot too. But if he shows up( or will any?) with his Twin Turbo GT35 V8 AWD Typhoon watch out. The odds are long that he will finish it since his recent case of OBP. Here is to hope.

There are my picks. Rember they were made in fun, not to make fun of. Flame away.

Just out of curiousity how do they prove this?

"Stock unported heads must be used. If L35s are on the truck, they must be unported, and the owner must provide documentation from GM that this truck was delivered with L35 heads."

there is way too much grey area in those rules. Go to the dealer today and order a replacement head for a syclone and you will get a L-35

I didn't write this part of the rules, but I would guess a warranty swapped engine with L35 heads and paper documentation would fit. Also truck could run Super Stock with L35 heads. Sy/TY Owners would just have to be careful to get a LB4 head if changing heads and wanting to run Stock turbo or Pure Stock. You can get LB4 castings cheap and easy. For example from a junk yard or Sy/ty.net members have them for sale all the time. In fact there are two sets setting in Jeff Scotts garage right now.

Most people swap to a L35 for a performance gain over the LB4, thats why they are not allowed except under certain circumstances ( documentation).

This one is easy. NO.

The first part of the sentence OK's GM part #'s, the second part states exceptions Pontiac heads not allowed in this class.

I cleared up the language for you in the rules, pertaining to pontiac heads in Top Stock.

I hope to see you at Nats X.

Is the Sy/TY Homecoming using similar classifications as the Sy/TY nats?

So I would be in the Outlaw class if I came with the V8 LS1 right? Anyone else planning on running in this class?

I believe I would be. Although I would be at a major disadvantage right off the bat because of cubes. But its all in good fun i suppose.

Well I can not confirm something almost a year away, but you can mark me down, even if I am not able to attend I will be making sure the truck is there and making passes.

I do not want to start anything or open a can of worms or whatever, but if you are allowing various sized engines in the outlaw class there should be some regulations dont you think? I mean my 279ci going up against a 502bbc just isn't fair. Just an idea.

If the class takes off in popularity it could be discussed. But for right now run what ya brung and hope ya brung enough. As long as it fits the rules*

Just to get a Idea at how fast the outlaw vehicles are going to be what are your best times?
