Oil Filter leak

My oil filter likes to "sweat". Nothing serious but I can never seal it completely to where after a day of driving little droplets form on the bottom of the filter.

is this common? truck is 100% stock.

thanks

Re: Oil Filter leak

no that's not normal. do is come from the top of the filter where it mounts or the filter itself?

Re: Oil Filter leak

More that likely the o-rings from the lines to the filter mounting housing or possible a damaged base (scratch or gouge were the filter o-ring sits) just my :2cents:

Re: Oil Filter leak

Yea make sure the oil isnt coming from where the lines bolt to the filter unit. Those little seals do tend to leak.

Re: Oil Filter leak

I dont see anything when the truck is running. nothing seems to be leaking out. But after the truck sits and I walk into my garage there are a few drops of oil inder the fender. I trace it back and if I touch the bottom of the oil filter its wet with oil.

i cleaned the mating surface where the oil filter seal contacts the stud.

will look at the seals where the lines connect to the filter mount. nothing seems to be leaking there.

its just puzzling where it may be coming from when there isnt an obvious place its leaking when i watch it while th engine is running.

thank you all for your thoughts
