OK this is getting a little old...

Back before Christmas, Nolan and I ordered a bunch of stuff from Tony DeQuick. Nolan ordered the aluminum rad with dual fans, and I ordered the same along with a dual core air to air. Thinking CAS was a stand up firm I paid for it all up front even though they told me the A2A wouldn't go out for two weeks. Its just so much hassle to order from Canada that I figured I'd look after it all at once...

Well I have talked to Tony intermittently in the past 3 months since I paid for the intercooler. Always a different excuse. A month and a half ago it was out at another shop having the end tanks brazed on or something. It was supposed to go out thee next day as I recall. I'm tired of biting my tongue in this matter. I've continued to defend him in other threads so as not to rock the boat and get my parts. To heck with it. I've called CAS all day but no one answers the phone. And my emails are no longer answered. I'm going to call my credit card company and try to get the charge reversed. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll wait until I get down there for the Nats and Tony can have the pleasure of meeting me face to face after I have waited six months for my intercooler. I currently have no doubt that it will still not be in my possession by then at the rate things are going. Its poor business to promise someone something and then take months to deliver. To promise someone something, take their money, and take months to deliver I believe is criminal. I'll get it sorted out eventually. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on dealing with him.

BTW, the rads that are supposed to be a drop in replacement fit like crap. We are currently hacking away on Nolan's Ty to get the stupid thing to sit on the frame rails so that we can actually close the hood. And they came missing fittings.

The Air to Air? Well if I ever do get it I can look forward to another shitty install/re-engineering job of a part that is supposed to drop in.

Sigh...

Well if anyone has any ideas please e-mail me. Otherwise stay tuned I guess. Thanks Tony.

I got the DeQuick CCHE in the original GP and it came with the wrong fittings.
Tony said he would make good on everyone in the GP.

Gave him my info and Email after email after email and I never got them, finally just went and bought them.

This was my only dealing with DeQuick, but needless to say I'm not calling them anytime soon.

I'd take your money to Mike @ http://www.arautosports.com

Glad I didn't go for that Rad GP.

wow. i'd say i'm shocked, but i've seen BG go threw the same with dequick and we only live 40 mins from him. best is when he tells brian to be home, he is going to drop it off.

I had to wait 2 months after i ordered my afpr from before it came. I even called to see what was up and they always told me that it would be shipped in a couple of days. Just my experiences with him, take it for what its worth.

Dean,

Been there, done that. Cut and run, my friend. I waited 8 months with money down to finally receive a very poorly engineered IC kit with lackluster build quality.

You have a better chance of being struck by lightning than having parts show up when Tony DeQuick says they will.

I thought maybe my experience was unique, since Tony (supposedly) has a good reputation with the GN guys. Since that time, I’ve found out it’s the norm rather than the exception. He must treat the GN guys completely different than the Sy/Ty community, cause if he doesn’t, I have no idea how he has remained in business this long…

Dean,

I don't check my e-mail all the time but I do check phone messages on a regular basis. I don't have a message from you. The phone rings non-stop here all day long and if no one answers, then leave a message.

You offered to pay up front, I didn't require it and I would be more than glad to refund your money until the unit ships.

99% of our business is wholesale and I would much rather have someone go through someone like Mike @ AR or Jerry McCoy as we prefer not to do retailing. I would rather be making product than talking to retail customers on the phone all day.

I also make no claim to being very fast with Sy/Ty things (or TurboTA or hotair Buicks). With all do respect to the Sy/Ty people, these are relatively low volume vehicles and considering such, I have priced things such that they are in-line with a much more popular vehicle platform. The only way I can afford to do that is by running multiple products at once, rather than setting up to make one intercooler. I wait until there are enough orders to do a run without losing money, and make the run. When you have 4-5 people kicking tires on purchasing, it may be a couple of weeks or it maybe a couple of months. It all depends. I could price things out too if you don't want to wait and want it in 48 hours.

Tony,

I hear and understand everything you are saying. Unfortunately, none of this was mentioned to me as my money was taken...just that it would be shipped in two weeks. That was back before Christmas.

I didn't leave a message because any other day a receptionist answers and I called probably six times this morning. Also, I feel the matter is at the point where I should be talking to you directly for some answers, not playing telephone tag leaving messages for each other.

I will call you tomorrow or Friday at CAS to discuss this matter. I can tell you right now though that I just want my money back. And the missing fittings for our radiators. Talk to you tomorrow.

I just wish that the intercooler pipes would fit. The design has changed about 5 times now, and none of them worked, and they seem to be getting worse. I've done custom turbo to CAS IC pipes twice, as the CAS ones weren't even CLOSE to fitting, and had to rework the IC to TB pipes twice too, and I'm still not happy with the way they sit on Jerry's Syclone. No bracket to hold the TB pipe on, so it blew off on a regular basis for a while, and will cause us more problems until I weld something up I suppose.

I had horrible response with the intercooler situation when I owned my Syclone, but I put up with it since it was a prototype, horrible fitment with the intercooler on Jerry's Syclone, and a LONG ass wait on the intercooler for the TTA (but it does fit very well). I don't mind the wait if you tell me up front, but hearing for weeks that it'd ship the next day is just wrong.

Ok time for an update. I called Tony last Friday and left a message as he suggested. And he did get back to me a few hours later. He never offered any reason nor apology for not getting the intercooler out that I recall. We discussed some fitment issues of the pieces. Then Tony told me there was one dual core A2A sitting in the shop (I never even bothered to ask why there was a finished one sitting there when there was an unfilled order....MINE) and another that would be finished on Monday. I reluctantly agreed to leave my order as is as Tony assured me repeatedly that he would call me with a tracking number first thing Monday morning after he sent it out. Today is Thursday and I still haven't received a phone call.

I couldn't call Tony today since www.chargedair.com is no longer online and I didn't have the invoice from the rad to get his number. I tell you the whole operation is just too shady for me. I know Tony will read this before I track him down. I want the $1500+shipping for the A2A refunded to my credit card immediately as we discussed. Can someone post the number for CAS if they have it just in case I forget to bring it to work with me tomorrow. What a mess...

Man, it seems like every tuner on the planet is getting beaned in the past few months. Hennessey, RR, CAC, McCoy's "bad" motors, a number of the lightning tuners, some of the viper guys, etc.

Not like I ever let anyone touch my vehicles, but it's pretty depressing to see it all on the net. Makes you not want to trust *anyone* with anything, and that's a pretty sad state. Wonder how much of it is internet bravado...

I don't know if anyone else has noticed the same thing, but from the boards I frequent, it sure seems that way to me. Kinda sucks that all these guys are out there to provide a service for "us," and that it seems so hard to satisfy everyone.

Reminds me of my front differential dealing with John Waller...Promises of shipping within 4 days of payment.. didn't receive anything ... 3 weeks later says he'll refund my money.. and doesn't actually do so until March 14th.Roughly a month after the original charge..Call the credit card company to check the reverse credit... they show no record of a reverse transaction....

On a seperate note.. back to the topic at hand..I think I'll stick with Al Dunstan when I go buy an Air to Air

I can’t speak as to any of the other vendors mentioned, but I can tell you my experience with CAS/Tony DeQuick was very disappointing. No internet bravado here, just plain facts. I was very patient, and very trusting. I waited 7 months, 2 weeks, and 1 day for an IC kit on a GP that was supposed to take 5 to 6 weeks, max. Tony’s contention of long lead times due to adequate quantities to source parts holds no water in my case. Neither does his assertion he makes no claims of timeliness. We had a GP, with a required number of units, and an estimated delivery date quoted accordingly. Whenever I buy a part from a vendor that is specific to our trucks, I temper my expectations with the knowledge that I own a vehicle with a small population, with less potential for return for any aftermarket supplier willing to make parts for it. Make no mistake, I will not accept that as an excuse for poor service or quality, but I will equate it to extra patience and $$. That’s why I waited as long as I did. The very night I had finally had enough and was going to send Tony an email telling him to cancel my order and refund my money, I got a call from the wife saying UPS had delivered a package. The quality of the kit was not up to my expectations, so it went back in the box without getting near my truck. But that's another story…

Even at that, I didn’t take to public bashing of CAS or Tony. I just figured it was my bad luck, everything must have gone wrong with my order. When I find out that it wasn’t, that this is a common occurrence for Sy/Ty people with CAS, that’s when I got angry. Maybe If I had spoken up, Dean wouldn’t have gone through the same thing. I don’t have any vendetta against CAS/Tony, I just don’t want any more of my Sy/Ty bros to wind up in the same boat. If Tony decides he doesn’t want to deal with the public, that’s fine. If he decides he’s only going to make one run of IC kits a year for Sy/Ty’s, that’s fine too. He just needs to communicate this up front. He also needs an injection of honesty. When you tell someone over and over and over you’re going to do something and you don’t, that’s called lying. I might also suggest that he get another truck in his shop and put some serious design work into his kits. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. I would a lot sooner see Tony acknowledge these issues and gain a vendor rather than lose one. The way I see it, the ball is in his court.

Well, my first experience with CAS was when I purchased the aluminum rad through Mike Lee which Tony shipped directly from his shop. It was a few days late but no biggie he always answered my emails, and returned phone calls. About the same time my radiator got here I decided to get the lower CCHE from him since he was auctioning two off on ebay. I didnt win the auction and he emailed me the next day and offered me one at the ebay price. I jumped on it, sent payment next day. This was over a month ago, still haven't recieved. I called about two weeks ago and spoke with tony and according to him, he had just finished a batch of intercoolers and it'd ship out that day. FedEx has never taken this long before. The phone just rings off the wall, no answering machine, no receptionist.
