As far as security is concerned, on Friday and Saturday night's(and maybe Thursday night's 'bike night') the Comfort Suites has security in the parking lot keeping Old Town cruise spectators from parking in their parking lot(you need a 'tag' from the hotel hanging from your rear view mirror). There's literally a guy sitting in a chair and he challenges everyone.

But you don't have to worry about the hotel with Comfort Suites, because you do your partying at Old Town. The bars stay open LATE, like 2 or 3 am, and then you walk to Denny's(open 24 hours). Highway 192 traffic is way down at 3 am! AND if you get kicked out of the bars Saturday night, the hotel won't even know about it.

I don't think you'll get Comfort Suites any cheaper than $80.99(the AAA rate), but I would think that they could atleast do $89, unless they are nearly booked--then they won't deal at all. You may have a better chance asking for 20 rooms, then 40.

There's also a hotel or two north of Seralago. A TraveLodge or Holiday Inn...

I need feedback here so I can wrap things up for a hotel so everyone can start reserving.

Are you guys OK with 80-89 per night with the Comfort Suites?

Im waiting for the Days Inn to call me back as well. Right now, I can reserve a room with them online for $35 per night. Me personally, Id much rather spend $80-90 for 2 nights, then 80-90 PER night. I know theres guys traveling, so Im trying to get this done as cheap as possible, but put us in a nice place and still in walking distance of Old Town with plenty of food choice.

Update..

Days Inn just called me back.

$35.53 per night which includes all the 13% crap. They can put us in a section of parking lot so the trucks are visable and will be safe. They'll block the rooms for us so we can keep together, and if needed, she can add on more if it goes beyond what we first ask for. Nov. is their slow time, so she doesnt antipate a prob even with the future thought of having 50+ trucks if that happened. There is a childrens playground on the property also.

They do have security and I explained we are a bunch that stays up late, etc and do have fun in the parking lot. (no burnouts) Her only request was that we do keep the noise to a minimum due to other guests, other than that we are good. I asked her about grilling in the parking lot which she would have to ask the property manager, but she doesnt think it would be a prob....but its not her call.


Im thinking we go with Days Inn.

Days Inn sounds like a winner. My big issue at this point is that I can't commit to being there until the last minute...

works for me i normally get a 4-5 bed room with heated pool and heated jacuzzi and it is just me and tara

Come on everyone, Adam could use your help.

He needs your opinion. You don't have to write a book, just a simple 'sounds good to me' or 'Days Inn, I was thinking something a little nicer' or 'I don't care either way' or 'We don't HAVE to be in walking distance-do we?'. The date is getting closer and some decisions are going to have to be made pretty soon. I'd hate to have to make the decisions for an entire group without any input. It's a quick way of saying 'Thanks for helping to plan this thing Adam' and it doesn't cost a thing.

I have stayed in this motel and it's pretty much what you would expect, with a Days Inn. Was it clean? I would say yes, but I don't expect to be able to eat off the floors at a $35 a night motel. I have stayed there before and I probably will again, someday(if that helps).

I love the Comfort Suites at Old Town. I can get a AAA rate of $81, but without AAA the best we MAY be able to do is $89--add the 13% tax + 2.26 per room per night means over $100 a night total--that may keep some people away.

AND we don't have to stay at either. We can just all crash at Don's rental house for the weekend, he already said 'works for me'. We'd probably have to pick up his bill at Pacino's, but that couldn't be too much--could it?

As long as the days inn is decent and clean and not a roach motel that should work. I mean seriously I can't imagine a whole lot of time is gonna be spent in the rooms really. Just to get some sleep and shower I would think so whats the difference as long as its decent. Also the thought that a more reasonable rate should equal more people attending makes sense? Maybe one of you guys close by could go and actually check out a couple of rooms to be sure they are decent and take some pics to show on here to ease some peoples minds about the rooms condition and the parking lot? Oh and yes I am going to do my best to attend this event I am not just giving my opinion about something I don't plan on going to.

One quick thought; if you don't want to stay at a Days Inn, no problem, you can always stay at the Comfor Suites.

Adam, do you know if we have to reserve a certain number of rooms to get that rate?

I told her a block of 20 rooms for right now which I think is reasonable given that we currently have 15 people on the registered list. If we start to pour in people, they will add on more and keep on grouping us together if it goes over. Id like to see us fill the hotel actually

One of us is definately going back down in the area to check out the hotel and make sure it isnt a shack before a final decision is made. Me and Ian are heading that direction this weekend, so will probably do it then. This is the one:

I can always call back Comfort Suites and try to talk them down to get our business, but might be kind of hard due to not having solid numbers to give them which they really wanted to know. Plus, I dont think they will come anywhere near the price of $35 regardless. They have the business and location, so it seems they arent to much willing to drop rates seriously low.....at least, that was my impression with the person who I spoke with.

I just want to get us a decent hotel for a good price. Im sure the Days Inn isnt going to be like the Gaylord Palms, but keeping in mind that a majority of people are going to be driving or flying out, Im trying to keep overall expenses down.

If that were the host hotel we could stay up all night in 72 degree comfort with no fear of rain. How many hotels have ponds with alligators and those funky multi-colored carp? The best Sunday brunch in town and it's like a mile and a half from Old Town.

Its a pretty cool place. Both myself and Ian have stayed there before, Rox used to go there for conventions. They do this ice park thing in the winter as well. Its definatley high end, high price

I've been in there for Sunday brunch, but I never considered staying there. Can you get a room there for under $200 a night?

Ok, we cruised by the Days Inn yesterday and walked around and checked out a room.

Its definatley not 5 star, but its what you would expect for $35/night and seemed to fit the bill with having enough space for parking, sizable pool, kids playground next to the pool, and plenty of things within walking distance (bennigans, dennys, dunkin donuts, and the list goes on).

Old Town is basically right next to the hotel as well and on the same side. Other than comfort suites, Days Inn is the only other hotel that is within very short walking distance on the same side of the road.


Again I ask for feedback. If you guys want something nicer and dont mind paying a bit more, I will shop more....if I dont get any feedback, Im going to take it as everyone is fine and Im going to set up the group rate so you can call and we get blocked together. We need to get the hotel set so we can start collecting registration and getting other things ready. Once the hotel is set up, we will open registration.

Saving a few bucks on the room will help us planning on driving a bit further. I am already looking at a sizable gas bill. I trust your judgement on the rooms. As long as the only guests I have in bed at night are those I invite and bring with me it should be fine.

oh.... while we cant do burnouts in the hotel parking lot, there are plenty of side roads to get stupid on. just a FYI for those who cant help tearing up some asphalt

Cheap = good. I'm not too good to stay in a Days in damnit. I mean, who am I to bitch? Hell, I drive an old 90's pick up truck :)
