Paint removal from cladding?

Has anyone ever tried to remove paint from cladding. I wrecked my syclone about 8or 9 years ago and rather than have mismatched cladding I had them paint it all to look the same. Now it has started to crack in some places and I would like to remove the old paint to have it repainted.

I never removed the paint yet but the best thing that I can think of is have somebody blast it with walnut shells. We had to have it dome to my dads stingray. If you sand blast it, it will most likely damage or eat all the way through the cladding.

I never removed the paint yet but the best thing that I can think of is have somebody blast it with walnut shells. We had to have it dome to my dads stingray. If you sand blast it, it will most likely damage or eat all the way through the cladding.

I think having them media blasted would be the best. You could try chemical strip but its needs to be somewhat mild not to melt the plastic. Or there is the good old da and sand paper.

They do make a really thick foam pad for the da that will take the contour of the cladding nicely. My dad has been a body man for 35 yrs and tried to talk me into doing it this way but I am hard headed and don't really listen. lol. When I do mine I have some broken extra peices on cladding that I will try different ways first to see what works best.

I will keep you posted. I am taking the cladding off right now to see what I want to use or replace. I will start doinf the body work in december. I will start messing with the cladding around that time because too many things going on right now.
