Pauls Select

Thinking about stripping all the cladding from my 92 ty and going with a set of his fiberglass pieces. I have searched and read about people using bits and pieces but what about a full set, bumper to bumper. I am getting tired of the tabs breaking when I close the door or jack the truck up. Its hard enough to keep these things running much less worry about the cladding disappearing going down the road. Anyone with experience I would appreciate any insight.

Re: Pauls Select

If it were me I would remove the stock cladding, reinforce/replace all of the tabs and reinstall it. Also check your body mounts, bump stops, etc. The cladding shouldn't be falling off so easily..

Re: Pauls Select

I've only had experience with a front arch cladding piece and the way the come they take some modification. It was not straight and had to be trimmed to match up, in the end I got ahold of an OEM cladding and reused that.. not sure what I did with this other piece, probably have it up in the garage somewhere lol.

Re: Pauls Select

i think the florida sun has dried the cladding out a lot. before i bought the truck it sat outside for a couple years unmoved. i have 2 sets of cladding and even the newer set has the tabs falling off of it.

Re: Pauls Select

I think it is a fabulous idea. Let me know what you want for all of it.

Re: Pauls Select

Something to remember-
OEM cladding is plastic. Plastic gets brittle with age. Fiberglass is also brittle.

If you are breaking the OE cladding when you are jacking the truck up- then you will most likely also break the new stuff as well. If you are wanting to reinforce the tabs- look into a product called Duramix (now owned by 3M). They make a product number 4747 that can be used to stengthen, reinforce, or even replace tabs. It sets in less than a minute and remains somewhat flexible so it won't crack.

I heard that also and don't know about Paul's select but think you would have way more hours in trying to get it to fit than you would have repairing yours.
