ALDL says it is working but cannot recognise the data.

Re: PCM may be an unsupported type

Datamaster.

I have a USB cable instead of a COM port, but it recognised there was a PCM there. AS soon as I un plugged it, it did nothing.

I read that you need a specific Sy/Ty download, which I have got. Didn't work.

I have just bought a stock chip from ebay (I hope...)

Any tips? If you have one with the memcal then I would prob buy that just to be sure I have a stock chip.

Does Datamaster work with the ultimater chip? Was thinking of getting that as well.

I was ssooooooooooooo looking forward to diagnosing what is wrong with my car!

I don't use Datamaster on my truck (I have the trial version) I tired in once on my truck it hooked up fine. As long as you have the proper SyTy datamaster it shoud work with whatever chip you have. Often connectivity issue are laptop configuration or cable errors.

Re: PCM may be an unsupported type

i have never been able to figure out how to hook up a USB to datamaster. I just use a Com port and it works fine.

Best way to figure out what chip you have is take it out. It is under the dash on the pass. side. Get at it from removing all those panels under the dash. I would assume a Saudi Sy would be in the same place.

Re: PCM may be an unsupported type

Datamaster should scan no matter what memcal you have in your ecm.

The USB adapter for Datamaster needs a driver loaded.
Mine included the disk with the driver on it.

basically it makes the USB port emulate a com port.

It sounds to me like you don't have the correct driver for your cable/adapter.

Re: PCM may be an unsupported type

I have the same problem also. I installed all the drivers and it recognizes the adapter as com1 it links up to tunercats to load bins but i still get the same datamaster message about unsupported ecm type, i have the software all installed with the auth code and all. I have tried every possible configuration of timing and handshake etc and still will not connect, this is with a best buy brand adaptor, im just gonna toss it and get a belkin, so i hear they work perfect.
