Pics and progress with the new engine:

Here is the block that I started with. Its a 1997 Vortec 350 4-bolt 1 piece rear main roller block:

1.6 Roller Rockers:

I haven't had much time to work on getting this in but so far I have:

Had to relocate the knock sensor and notch the motor mount to clear the sensor:

I ordered a plate to cover this.. Apparently the Vortec block is setup to accept some sort of sensor here.

The stroker crank caused my rod bolts to scrape the oil pan. After a bit of hammering I now have a goofy looking pan with 3 humps in it..

Re: Photoshopped picture?

So my $9.99 block off plate come in and I got that installed:

I also cleaned the block and head surfaces really well and got the heads installed and torqued down:

Unfortunately when I installed the pushrods and rockers I noticed the the 1.6 ratio puts the pushrods off-center and now I need to elongate these holes.. I got one side done.. Hoping to finish up the other side tomorrow..

Re: Photoshopped picture?

Any updates on your project Matt?

Life has been keeping my VERY busy but I have had a little time to play with the new engine. I'm only pushing 6-7 lbs of boost and I'm still shifting low(~4500) RPM... Video here:

I'm going to start slowly increasing those(boost & RPM) now that I have some miles on it. I'm hoping to get away with ~15lbs of boost on 93 octane and I think it should make power up to 5500-6000 RPM so I'll start upping my shift points too..

I suspect this engine will really come alive when I get up over 10lbs...

Bad news is I have an oil leak.. It looks like the rear main but it seems unlikely since its a brand new crank and a new 1 piece seal. It may be the oil pan but I didn't modify anything on the back side and it sealed up on the old motor...

Re: Photoshopped picture?

Well I've worked my way up to 10PSI and 5200 RPM and things are looking promising. My 0-60 time is 2.86 seconds and my datalog software is showing 1/8 mile times of 7.1 at 91 MPH. The Wallace calculator says that will put me around 11.2 at 113..

If all goes well I should be able to push around 15 PSI and make good power up to 6200 RPM so there is still a lot left in it.. Here is a graph of my datalog where I did 0-60 in 2.86:

0-60%202.86%20seconds.jpg

The orange line is the speed. The run starts at 5:36:651 and I hit 60 at 5:39:514....
