Has anyone used the Hughes TC instead of the PI 911 TC,
Is the Huges going to the same or should I just stay with the PI 911,
I can buy the Hughes for $749.00,
where can I get the the PI 911?
Which Hughes TC are you referring to? If you are talking about the HP2230L with 3000 stall, that is a VERY high quote:
"3K stall TC w/lock up part #HP2230L $412.75 on 10/03 through paceparts.com list price is $956.37. The mounting pads on this TC need to be drilled with a 7/16" drill to accept three grade eight 7/16" X 14 bolts one inch long. The nut goes the motor side and gets 262 (red) LocTite."
I have been running this converter for over a year now and I have no complaints whatsoever. Several others have as well and I have yet to hear of any grievances with it. Which can't said for the 9/11's...
Hope its ok to to drop a question in your thread Shavez since its Hughes related.
Have been driving my TY now for a couple of times with the Hughes 3K in it and its "louder" than stock. It doesnt rattle or anything but its not that quite, hard to explain the sound. I got the TC cover off. Do you guys also hear your TC?
You mean like a whine?
Your converter can be seated on everything but not be deep enough.
It causes the pump rotor to cock and make a whining sound. Also, since you won't have as much spline engagement, you can twist the input shaft in two. This is just a guess as I don't know what "sound" your hearing.
Here's a good site I found explaining what I'm talking about: http://www.rosslertrans.com/Converter Spacing.htm
Yaeh thats could be alittle bit right despricption, a whine not all the time thou.
I took a look at that Rossler tip when I installed the TC. Was spot on on the measurement.
Its so much difference when you not have the TC seated all the way and when you have it not seated properly.
So you think I should put some spacer and get it "over seated" so to speak.
I'm just concerned over the "balloning" shall ruin the pump if I do that.
Ditto on that ! I can go from vacuum at cruise to 15 psi in about a second in my truck... Andreas, glad to hear that you were able to trace down your problem and it wasn't trans related .
