with the exception of the Edelbrock Elite valvecovers (yuck!) I like it! I'm glad to see it together for you finally. I am in the tuning stages at the moment, as you soon will be!

HEY! i like my valve covers lol.

Just ran into one problem after another but its finaly done, I had a custom flange made for the downpipe/exhaust on a waterjet machine and some other random crap that should speed things up at this stage but then again i still gotta do a TON of welding of the downpipe and exhaust and the external wastegate and all that fun...And the new blow off valve,.. and the brackets to hold the intercooler and the piping for it...

Re: Pics of the new motor build! DONE!

Bad news, .... 4 hours into trying to final install the turbo from qwk storm and manifolds from dynaglide tonight, i was stuck on the passengers side for about 2 hours trying to get the last two bolts in.. kept trying and trying.. Finaly i gave up (garage is roughly 92 degrees at like 11pm...

We take the passenger side out and start test fitting it on another set of 96+ vortecs,.. doesn't fit. Then we start test fitting it on a set of 95 down non vortecs to see if we missed something... Doesn't FIT....

So ya my new pretty bead blasted, Coated, new studded manifold has been heated or something to the point it grew like enough to make the last bolt holes miss.. not happy, I wanted it running this week and i already have 250 in these manifolds. The holes that are missing already look like they've been drilled once to try and correct the problem to the point its pretty thin...Didn't notice any of this until tonight...

So am i missing something or am i screwed and need another manifold?

Anyone has a pass side, (turbo side) manifold? I'm pretty sure this one isn't going to be able to be fixed and reliable...not sure yet but its not looking good.

Stock manifolds suck getting on. I belive there is a toll to stretch and install them. You might have to seach. Try getting the manifold when the engine is in the truck. It's a pain in the ass.

Pretty common for the passenger manifold to be "sprung" lotsa heat in that side.

Get yourself a manifold stretcher, I swear there is such a thing and I'm not leading you in a goose chase. :rotf:

Start with the middle two bolts but leave them loose a few threads and then go to the back bolts and then the fronts last. Use some antisieze on the threads and take your time. Crank the spreader a lil at a time and it will go together.

If you ever have to take them back off put the spreader in before you remove the bolts to make life easier the next time too.

Re: Pics of the new motor build! DONE!

you could throw a little heat on them, that worked for me. but you might melt your poly engine mounts. then again your turbo will do that eventually anyway.

Step One. Make sure the wife/mom/girlfriend's is out of the house.
Step Two. Turn on the stove to 500 deg.
Step Three. Rummage through the drawers and find a good pair of oven mits. But not the pretty ones!
Step Four. Bake that manifold for a good 15 - 20 min. While waiting verify that your ratchet is clean of grease. (You dont want oil or grease on your wife/mom/girlfriend's oven mits)
Step Five. Run it out to the garage and bolt it on. (the oven mits will only keep your hands cool so so long) Dont ask me how I know!

Step Six. Have a beer or two while it cools down!

Re: Pics of the new motor build! DONE!

OK got them on, worked for a little bit and jammed a bolt and couple that were like a inch long between those last two on the drivers side and like magic..(20 minute in) they just went on..

So then i started working on the clearance of the turbo and .. EVERYTHING.. i got problems.. or i think i do let me get the pics online and you guys can take a look.

Also the fuel rails and intake got finished today, i went in after work and bead blasted them, solivent washed them, washed them, blew them out and its ready to rock.. I'll post some quick pics of the rails and intake up..

The pics!

MPFI 2114 conversion with Billet Rails..by CAMS in canton ohio, And my PT60 just hitting EVERYTHING in the damn truck... lol

If you look at the pic i have the yellow markings in, first the turbo is clocked pointing the outlet right into the hood giving me maybe 2 inches to make the U bend to head back down to the intercooler, Then the turbo covers the positive side of the battery, The the turbo hits the air conditioner bracket.. Then the condensor is going to be slightly in the way of the downpipe..

So what i've already done, If you notice in the pics we already moved the small line going from the condensor with the fill tap on it to the side in hopes it will still work properly (had a freind who is a AC tech that said ..eh i think itll be ok).

Now i guess i can cut the AC bracket like a inch off and make room, But then it puts the compressor all of like a half inch from the hot side of the turbo... Compressor life seems to questionable..

Then i can try and bend the tubing holding the condensor at a 45 or even just tilt the unit to clear the DP going by.

The battery were hoping we can turn sideways and get it in there if not maybe moving it to the same spot on the other side... don't wanna move that crap though...

Now for you PT turbo guys, my PT60 can i reclock it to point down? Anything special to do this? E-RUE ? WALLER ? help! Also i think i'm going to need a new U bracked that goes around the turbo on the cold side and holds the housing on.. the Internal wastegate deal that was on the turbo was welded to it and i plan on cutting it off but i'd like one that isn't all messed up lol..

Alright so there it is ! Not looking to bad so far..

Could someone post or link me to some good underhook pics of how you guys trucks are setup around the turbo and AC or even better someone with a PT turbo?

Re: Pics of the new motor build! DONE!

Crap, Well how the heck did it fit around you AC brackets and how did that outlet work for you? Well wait you guys run your crap uptop though i plan on running it straight down below where the battery is and out of the front behind the bumper to the intercooler behind the bumper..

Re: Pics of the new motor build! DONE!

to reclock the compressor housing, you can loosen thebolts that hold the housing together and rotate it whatever direction you want. make sure not to spin it to fast or pick it up, there is an o-ring in there. to reclock the exhaust housing loosen the 6 bolts and spin the housing. i just had to do this. and i think i have to weld my wastegate actuator on my turbo as well. can you send me a pic of what the wastegate actuator welds look like. thanks.

Re: Pics of the new motor build! DONE!

ya i'll swing by the garage tommorow and get some pics.

How did it clear your AC bracket, from my understanding i have the same AC compressor and brackets you did and mine definetly doesn't fit without cutting out some stuff and then the hot side it like .5 inch from the compressor.. i could sheild it but i would think it would beat on those AC compressors pretty good.

And again i could use some good pics from the top or wherever you guys have so i could see how the AC stuff was routed and what special crap they did for you guys lol.

Anyone have and of this "special AC crap" that would fix my problem extra?
