Truck #994

I have the full Z06 setup in front to include 4 piston calipers and the Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors. This truck stops. Outside of that it has a 3" pipe from the cat back with no muffler. It sounds real nice and is not loud at all. Under the hood the MODS are a K&N oil filter (big whoop) and an electric fan. There are no other MODS.

Now I am pic happy.... Here is my Datsun Engine: Fresh Build and 10K later. This is built for a c2 Procharger pushing 12 psi.

Re: Pictures for your viewing pleasure

Although I want to keep my Sy stock and unmolested there is no doubt the bug will bite as that motor was simply suppossed to be a rebuild for a work truck of mine. I made the mistake of throwing some red paint on the block and that is all it took......oh boy...! God help me....

It's funny how small a Sy is.....until you put it next to a Datsun pickup :rotf::rotf::rotf:

Good looking trucks sir!

Re: Pictures for your viewing pleasure

Thaks for the comments. To answer the question which is faster I can tell you that the 75HP (at the wheels) L18 is a little screamer. I mean, a one legged guy could probably beat this truck in a 1/4 mile...and a 3 year old could definitely beat it off the line on thier tri-cycle.

But.....as the story unfolds...

There is a monster lurking in the shadows...or rather sitting on an engine stand under a sheet....hahahaha

That is a 2.6, now almost a 2.7 G54B Mitsubishi Motor. Outside of a few diesels, this is one of the biggest 4 cyl. ever produced. Stock it only produced 105HP but becuase of the displacement, produced 145TQ. I don't want to bore you with the laundry list but as it sits now it produces 180HP NA and with the Supercharger on it pushing 12 PSI will bump that right under 240HP generating closer to 280 ish TQ. Big number right? Not really in comparison to say a 4.3T but here is where it gets good and you mathmeticians out ther will get it. The truck with me in it only weighs 2600 LBS. My problem as you have probably already guessed is getting power to the ground. When I built the truck I contemplated a transfer case and front end swap from a 79 4x4 and was going to play with the gear ratios. That turned out to be too much of an undertaking and the added weight was something I was trying to avoid.

So, to answer the question - forgive the babble - In stock form, it may be close but I will put my money on the Sy.

Thats a great looking engine. But where is the other half of it???

Nice trucks! I appreciate those kind of vehicles more than your standard "muscle" cars that are seen everywhere:tup:

It's under the other sheet in the garge not shown in the pictures......:p I love in line power....uber reliable...I built that motor like you would a small block, same theory at least because it is literally half the size to the tee (302, 305 etc). I did get it just shy of 9:1 compression hence the reason I prolly will not be pushing more than 12 psi....realistically 10psi. In hindsight I should have gotten the block from either the conquest or the starion which was turbocharged...Those blocks had the oil squirters for the pistons allowing you to run high boost and keep lubricated etc...It will be fun and it will get the truck down the road in a hurry....I am taking the black truck to GN Northwest tomorrow to get a bumper to bumper diagnostic before driving more than 20 miles...Just to be safe...We will see what needs to be done in the way of maintenance and modern upgrades for reliability etc.
